This guide will show you how to completely remove OW and all Blizzard files from a Windows 10 PC that are left behind when OW is uninstalled and then re-installed to make sure no files are causing issues you may have with OW.
Take Note:
Please check you have updated your GPU drivers and checked that it was not a GPU issue.
This will remove all settings from your OW account and will have to be re-done from scratch.(with the acception of the settings stored by server)
Their are other methods of fixing a issue with OW, this is a last resort that takes the most time and will remove every last trace of Blizzard files.
Okay lets begin the Uninstall:
- First Uninstall OW and
Battle.net
Press the Win key, then type Uninstall and click “Add or remove programs” - Select
Battle.net
, OverWatch and any other related software to Blizzard and click the uninstall option for each one. - Next press the Win key and type: %programdata% (with the %) a folder will appear with a list of folders, Delete the folders named
Battle.net
and Blizzard Entertainment. - Press the Win key and type: %appdata% then click the AppData text near the top of the window, then click Local.
- Same again delete the folders named
Battle.net
and Blizzard Entertainment. - Now navigate to your Documents folder, find the Overwatch folder and delete it.
Congratz! you have now completely removed OW and Blizzard files from your PC.
Now for the Install:
- First lets install the the
Battle.net
app, go here to download the App: Battle.net App – Blizzard Entertainment - Now click the Battle.net-Setup.exe and follow the install process.
- Once you are in the app select OverWatch and install the game.
- Repeat this process of any other versions of the game like PTR.
And done!
All that is left is to setup the settings and play on!
