I started checking at the start of each game and it seems the only matches that are ever close one the ones where both teams are all solo queues. Every match that has at least one duo on one team ends up being unbalanced game and more people grouped seem to make it worse. So if you have two duos or a trio on both teams the match will be totally absurd.
I am starting to think the range the people can group together needs to change or they need to drop open queue and replace it with group queue. Only groups of 2, 3 and 5 can queue and allow for GM stacks. Solo queue and Group queue has worked in other games so it could work here.

I think it’s well known that it’s easier to climb in a group than solo.
It would be nice if the game was solo queue only.

I once got 23 something losing streak against 4/5 stacks nonstop AS SOLO QUEUE.
Yes I agree. Like League of Legends has flex where you can play ranked with up to 4 party members, so you can still get that competitive experience with your friends and grind with your little team. In addition to the solo/duo queue option where you can only queue with one other person max. I like this cause again you can play competitively with friends and enjoy the game with them still, but also your solo/duo rank is like your own personal skill indicator. Of course sometimes a good solo queue team can carry a bad player or there will be leavers that just make it unfortunate but due to the distinction in rank queues you’re not piling unfortunate losses because of a leaver/thrower ON TOP OF the solo queue games that you just get rolled in against a 5 stack. Between leavers/throwers, poorly made matches, and getting rolled by coordinated 5 stacks on a team of solo queuers with no comms it is very difficult to climb in the low average to average skill tiers. Especially lately this is a huge issue, last season I comfortably climbed to gold 3 and was able to maintain that rank throughout the season. However this season so many losses are out of my control my rank j shoots up then down then up then down.
The only reason it’s easier to climb in a group is because after a few wins the matchmaker isn’t able to give you potatoes to carry. I mean it still tries, but if you’re in 3 stack with a tank dps and support you can usually drag them across the finish line.
It goes to show how rigged the game is for the majority of the people who don’t group up. It’s the sole reason why they removed the LFG feature and I’m certain the only reason they didn’t remove groups altogether is streamers.
I exclusively play OQ now unless in a group (which isn’t very often as most of my friends have given up on the game). The matchmaker seems to cope a lot better without fixed roles, and the ability to switch off support if I need to makes the game way less frustrating, even if it’s just to force a widow or a tracer to switch when my team don’t care enough to bother.
