Let me preface this post by saying I’m talking specifically about the Zarya currently on live, not the PTR version where ults received a global increase in cost.
With that out of the way, is it me or does Zarya’s ult charge much slower than the rest? If I join a game halfway I’ll be lucky to even get 1 ult, while my teammates and opponents can easily cash in another 2 in the same amount of time. Why does it seem, or why is it slower to charge than other ults? What’s the reasoning behind the perceived increase in charge time? With the nerf hitting every hero on the PTR as a percentage increase as well, isn’t that going to make the charge time significantly longer than before?
I imagine you’re trying to build ult with right click. After the aoe nerf, this isn’t a great way to farm ult with her. You gain much more ult by using left click directly. Also, building and maintaining charge helps with this alot since ult gain is from damage dealt.
If you do it right, you can have grav very quickly.

Most likely because Zarya is a high skill character and needs to be doing consistant damage to charge grav.
Judging from watching a lot of Harblue, I’d say that you just need to play much more agressive or with a coordinated Reinhardt to get high energy.
High Energy = Higher Damage = Faster Ult Charge.
Zarya is a hard character to play without a coordinated Rein/team.
