Grand Master needs a different set of rules

It doesn’t make any sense to have T500 only have a different set of rules when you have to go through Grand Master first to get there. Why can’t both have the same set of rules or more? It’s supposed to be the top 1ish% of the community, half the stuff put in for everyone just doesn’t make sense.

  • No private profiles
  • 1 account per person
  • No parties more than 3 people (that’s half a team which means they have a heavy part in the outcome which isn’t fair). Full teams vs Full teams would be fine though since there’s not randoms on a team that’s already been half made
  • Heroes need individual balancing (there’s a major difference between someone decent at one hero and amazing at that same hero)
  • Only queue with someone with an SR difference of 100 or less (4000 and 4100 has a giant skill leap)
  • Something that’ll prevent 5 tank mains or 4 support mains from being put on one team

These guys would have a queue time of an eternity.

Pretty sure most of us are ready for that. It’s pretty universal that what we currently have as the system is stupid

The only thing exclusive to top 500 (on the PC platform only) is the SMS Protect requirement. Other than that, the matchmaking and ranking rules are identical to that of Grand Masters.

I personally will stand by the fact that if you have to rely on the past play history of other players, you are not focusing on yourself as a player.

How can this be effectively enforced?

Individual balanced based on rank? This will never happen. This would incentivize tanking one’s rank in order to play certain heroes.

They actually increased the Grand Master pairing and grouping spread to 350 (up from 250) starting in this season. They can’t really tighten this without severely affecting queue times (even for solo queue players).

Role queue is the neverending debate across all ranks. While it is not bad to focus on a particular play role, one can argue part of your skill is to be able to play different roles on the Competitive ladder whenever it is demanded. Besides if there was restrictions such as a Role Queue that too would severely impact the queue times in matchmaking at Grand Master ranks.

Chiming in to add that I can play pretty much all roles except Jungle in League of legends and that’s a MoBA game with role queue. Why would Overwatch be any different? Its a MoBA too, with fps features according to people here on the forum so…?

I hate private profiles as much as the next guy ,but not being able to achieve a rank you’ve earned because your profile is private is just unfair

Why ? Top 500 has this rule because there can only be 500 accounts at a time ,GM doesn’t have this set in stone limit.

No ,different balancing across ranks would be an awful confusing mess ,no matter the rank you should still be playing the same game as everyone else

I’ve never been there so I can’t debate ,but it feels like that’ll make queue times SIGNIFICANTLY worse than they are

While I would like this myself ,I don’t think it’ll get implemented ,because the matchmaker would be forcing people to play a specific role.

I mean no matter how unrealistic the rest of your list is, this is just an excuse for failing. Because again what would you do if profiles were forcedly public and someone refuse to play what you want them to play anyway?
Again, this is just an excuse for losing a game: “Of course we lost, because player X had a hidden profile so he must have been throwing. I didn’t do anything wrong, it was HIM!”

Because nothing says competitive team esport like banning teams.

Bronze need a different set of rules too. Start with nobody on either team can be more than 50 SR greater than anyone else.

So you don’t think knowing what people on your team play or if someone on the other team is hacking or smurfing?

They have many ways to do this. They did it for T500

Title

They’re already long and having one party control the match really isn’t fun

5 tank or 4 support mains on one team really is just bad match making. 3 is fine because triple tank or support work fairly well, but changing from tank to dps or from support to tank does not go over well. There’s way too many differences for role swapping to ever work in your favor

No just as soon as you hit 4000, you don’t get to have a private profile anymore. You don’t stay at 3999 until you unprivate it, it’d just happen. Teamwork and knowing when someone is hacking or just smurfing is very important

What’s the point of even having 2+ accounts in GM? Let alone 2+ across any rank? Smurfs are a major problem in lower ranks, but it really doesn’t make sense to have 2 different accounts in the same rank

This would just be for GM. It’s theoretically the place where people can adapt the fastest and figure out what works the best. Also, balancing specifically in GM would help bring unplayed heroes back and make it so low skill heroes don’t dominate

I already wait 3+ minutes for a game, so a little longer for a more even match wouldn’t be much worse

Nobody would be forced to play anything, it’d just be really nice to have people who can play each role well. I’ve had many games with too many tank or support mains and nobody can do well on DPS or Tank/Support.

Trying to find where I said I pass the loss blame to people with private profiles. I’ll look at the top of my original post while you look at the bottom. We’ll see if we can find it together

Changing this so 6v6 can be a thing. Full teams vs Full teams or randos vs randos would make the game a lot better

I don’t know what Bronze is like, but assuming it’s for the 100% casual players, it doesn’t really need looked at. GM is supposed to be the best people in the game, so the rules in it should reflect that

My bronze money is just as good as anyone else’s. Is it so wrong I just want a fair match where I actually have a chance to win?

No, I just don’t know what it’s like down there except what I can assume based on the different SR levels. You’d have to make your own thread based on what you think should happen

You keep whining about bronze being the worst on everyone’s posts and it’s honestly quite annoying to see.
Bronze isn’t that bad. Stop complaining that you “haven’t won in 2 years” when that’s clearly a lie.

Everything I’ve ever said is absolute truth. Not sure why you even care, since it doesn’t affect you.

My money’s as good as yours. I deserve a fair match with an even chance of winning.

How exactly are they gonna enforce this.

It already takes like 7 minutes to find a game… I dont want to wait any longer than that to find one.

It’s not. I’ve been in bronze and it’s no where as bad as you keep making it out to be.
Your matches are fair, we all have throwers/leavers/smurfs, regardless of Elo.

My matches are NEVER fair (statistically never). One side or the other is always infinitely more skilled. Three years of video proof man.

Then post said proof.
I’ve played in bronze and have climbed as both tank and support (the ““impossible”” roles to climb with in bronze supposely)
I didn’t have unfair matches.
This was back when I was probably 1800 highest.

Then by definition you’re not bronze are you? Duh. I’m talking about for those of us who are actually bronze for real. We want a fair fight, that’s all. Why do you care so much that we don’t get to have any? You WANT bronze players to feel that bad?
