GPU whine noises only when playing OverWatch

I got a Asus Rog Strix 1080ti, I can play any games on it using high/ultra, and using only the overclocking modes provided by “GPU Tweak Monitor II” provided by ASUS.

The only game that makes my GPU make a “coil whine” is OverWatch. HotS got no problem, neither CS:GO nor PUBG.

If the game is damaging my GPU, I want compensation.

Coil Whine does not harm your GPU. You can stop it by limiting your FPS.
However, it may be worth to take a look at this reddit thread:

that thread is bad, and old, and don’t apply.
My monitor is 120hz I limited it to 144fps. cs will go 200+ and no coil whine.

1 - OC hypothesis - I’m using the silent profile, downclocked, still whine.
2 - FPS hypothesis - As compared with other games, with higher fps and no whine.
3 - Fan hypothesis - Whine starts before target tdp while still in 0rpm.
4 - Coil will go away after time hypothesis - 6+ months, no change.

Only (100+ games tested) OverWatch do it. It’s bad driver optimization.

“Occam’s razor (also Ockham’s razor or Ocham’s razor; Latin: lex parsimoniae “law of parsimony”) is the problem-solving principle that, when presented with competing hypothetical answers to a problem, one should select the one that makes the fewest assumptions.”

ONLY OverWatch does it. So, it’s at fault.

It is coil whine by what you are saying. no other game you listed will push your gpu as hard as overwatch so maybe test using a gpu stress test to see if the whine happens. unigine has a few benchmarks that may help with that like heven or superposition.

this game is confirmed to be not a power virus so it cannot damage your pc unless your gpu is already damaged or the cooling is not good enough. Coil whine can come with any gpu buy may be caused by not clean power from the power supply or motherboard board but your mobo is pretty high end so i bought its that.

If you dont think we are right, maybe hit up a hardware forum and ask there.

I got a xfx pro850w gold, run timespy. No coil whine. OverWatch is so awesome, even in Menus where it limits itself to 60fps, there is coil whine.
Again, only with overwatch.
3d Mark Time Spy graphic score 9509 and cpu score 4324. (no coil whine)
The moment the game is closed, whine is gone. Game “ready” drivers for overwatch are flawed.
