Got in a car accident 2 days ago

Given a better perspective of life I suppose
Things can always be worse type deal
Well yep I suppose I’m not playing this weekend
Was looking forward to it though…
Hmmm
I’ll list the details of the accident in a minute
Yeah so basically what happened was that this entitled teen was doing 60 in a 30 zone and me and my buddy were in traffic when she was speeding down the road
She runs through a bus stop, almost hitting two kids getting off a school bus, keeps driving and hits the back of the car behind us, and then glances off of my vehicle as her tire popped and she went onto the side of the road
Her passenger jumps out grabs a bag and books it, she tries to bribe everyone involved saying that the cops aren’t needed, but my buddy call them anyways
A few minutes before the cop arrives (they sent 1 cop) her mother comes on the scene rummaging through the totaled car and screaming at us to stop recording. We WERE TAKING PICTURES DUMBAS* ITS EVIDENCE
Anyways after the cop gets there we learn this teen don’t have any insurance which pisses all of us off even more than we already are
The woman that was hit first behind us is talking to us and then her husband comes over and asks what happened
We explain everything and that man was ENRAGED at that teen
THE TEEN LITERALLY GOES TO LEAVE THE SCENE and yet DOESN’T GET ARRESTED?
she comes back and yet with several eye witnesses, doesn’t get out in cuffs for all this
WHAT A WORLD

Sorry it happened to you.

That’s one of the reasons I don’t drive (maybe you were a passenger, you’ll let us know).

My worst fear is me creating a car accident and someone gets killed.

Yeah, I’d rather not drive so I don’t ever risk it.

And yeah no I was a passenger which made it even scarier
Because now your life is essentially out of your hands and all you can do is watch

Oof, that’s rough, glad nobody got hurt. Hopefully the cops will eventually follow up and arrest her.

I hate the fact that even if you’re the best driver in the world, you’re always going to be at risk anyway because of the other idiots on the road. Pretty scary actually…

Yeah, uh, my generation doesn’t claim this one. She’s an outcast.

I’ve seen how running away from the scene of crime is become oddly common, and I hope they get punished just for that. Running away from your problems? They sure they’re above 18? Sheesh.

I hope you have recovered from that and if not, I hope it gets better.

I’ve only been in a few accidents and nowhere near that level - and even then they were scary enough. Not to mention all the stress and hassle afterwards with repairs/insurance/etc. May the gods of PTSD and bureaucracy smile favourably upon you, OP.

Damn, dude. Glad you’re ok. Was the impact to your car heavy enough that you all got jostled around? Be sure to get yourself checked out by a doctor for whiplash, it’s no joke.

Everyone who drives should buy a dashcam

This wasn’t bad, but I’ve caught a few interesting things on mine

There are plenty of people who dislike cars for this reason alone.

Im of the opinion cars in general and car culture esp. in USA are just too heavily relied on. Entire cities infrastructure built for cars, yet disregard human safety. The amount of waste that vehicles produce, and consume, including our space and time is ridiculous. I truly believe Cities should be walkable, if not bike-able, and cars should be for heavy transportation only, not for driving 4 miles for a cigarrete lighter.

I hope youre okay dude.
Never stop recording when people scream that, they dont know the law. Its 100% legal to film for evidence and youre own safety. Otherwise, no one will believe the spoken word. Trust me.

The police do literally nothing. We have a guy in the neighborhood literally verbally and physically harasses people all day, everyday, to the point of stalking and assaulting people, and the police have been called too many times, he hasnt seen jail yet, and he skips all his court dates claiming “lack of evidence” &the courts and law enforcement dont care cause they move on to easier cases with evidence.

Even when theres bodies on the ground, all police do is say “yep hes dead”

In a way, overwatch mirrors life, you just dont know what idiots/throwers are next to you.

Real life is way more scary than holloween. Stay safe.

the criminal justice system is failing us.

Best forms of “payback”
.(and you technically need to contact a lawyer on this one).

1 ) Contact child protective services (if they are under 18, make them understand that the parent is at fault). parents do need to be accountable for their kids.

2 ) Sue in small claims. Idk in some states thats under 5k, others is 20k. I’d hit them with repeated lawsuits for anything and everything. typical filing is 100 bucks per filing.

3 ) I would have told the officer that this seamed like it was on purpose as an assault and that you would like to file “assault charges” against said person (probably too late now).

for every lawsuit you win and they dont pay. Hire a collection agency. eventually it hits their credit score and makes their lives very very miserable.

people need amazing credit in this economy.

at the end of the day. judges are failing this country.

Doing 60 in 30, while overtaking a Bus at Bus stop?

Where’s the death sentence, there’s so much wrong in just one sentence.

Pigs are useless. I am sorry that this happened to you, Piece of Junk (said endearingly). Hopefully there are no injuries, if you are feeling back or neck pain, you should see a doctor. My friend was rear-ended at a stop light by someone going 60 as well and will have to deal with it for the rest of his life. It sounds as if the other couple is more likely to have been injured, but still… If you have persisting pain, you might be entitled (not as entitled as the teen) to compensation!

I hate bad drivers more than I hate bad teammates in Overwatch.

Always call the cops. Always. It should be the first thing you do. Because if you don’t they’ll try and get away with it and not have to pay anything. I had a similar situation and instead of calling cops we tried to make it so traffic could get through. Sadly once we did the guy ran away the moment he could. Luckily his license plate fell off.
