The issues I see with shadow step are
- It feels awful to use because he comes to a dead standstill. Like Roadhogās old breather.
- Itās clunky and sometimes difficult to aim when there are multiple ledges / levels Reaper can teleport to.
- He has to teleport to edges of ledges which makes him incredibly vulnerable to getting sniped. If the enemy team has an even semi-decent sniper he basically canāt use this ability even outside a team fight.
Suggestions:
- Allow him to continue moving while shadow stepping, which would make it feel better. Bonus would be adding a cool Batman-style animation where he sweeps his cloak while doing so. He would still be killable and unable to attack while fading out / in but could at least make an effort to dodge fire.
- Allow Reaper to remain invisible for a second when his player arrives at the destination, so he can move to a better position for the next fight without getting insta-domed or alerting the enemy team to where he is. He would regain play control when arriving at the ledge and then start fading into reality a second later.
- Increase the range. The bigger, open maps like Horizon and Rialto are an issue when he canāt reach distant ledges.
And now been 24 hoursā¦ yep
After 3 years of neglect and a failed rework that just shows a sign they really care for their product outside of cosmetics. The artist developers are fine, but art can go only so far if the system of game fails.
Whatever sense they had went out the Window 2017. The whole year was focus on Mercy and ptr was useless for feedback and it just came down to this to me. Whoever developers favorite will get the proper tweaks while others receives the odd tweaks that doesnāt make sense like Symmetra 3.0.
#WTB Reaperās right click ability.

The ongoing Mercy debacle has been somewhat superseded by the Brigitte mess. All the development hours have been sunk into her. Every patch since she was released was about her, as will the next two at least.
It makes question their development potential that they focus extremely on one hero while doing breadcrumb tweaks to others. Then you have Paladins doing tweaks in most patches.
Itās the weekend, dude. Geoff already responded Friday that the interview segment discussing channeled weapons was not about buffs/nerfs but disentangling channeled weapons and armour damage reduction. Which youād know already, if you actually watched the Twitch VOD (feel free to scroll up and read my earlier reply).
Iām leaving this thread now, butāagaināplease consider revising your post Doomfish. Or at least stop updating with more clickbait.
All you are doing here is linking incorrect presumptions and throwing fuel on the fires of forum discontent.

Fun is subjective, but that does not mean you can not break it down, and study it, ask, āwhat is fun?ā āWhat makes it fun?ā The easiest part of this answer comes to pacing. Now Iāve beat this nail over and over, but it never seems to get driven home. We can prove that Valkyrie has terrible pacing. We can also prove that Valkyrie has low interactivity.
This isnāt a Mercy thread, so I wonāt get into depth on these things, but āfun is subjectiveā is not alone enough of an answer.
But hey, I bet if you asked GG what pacing means, heād tell you itās what his dog does when it wants to go on a walk.

More tech in her mobility is fine; her super jump is a great tool to have. But that is the only benefit the rework has given to Mercy players who want to have fun. In exchange for one additional option when using mobility, Mercy has lost all impact she had on a team fight
Which is funny, since, one of the points of the rework was to make her stronger outside of her ult.
She had all of her power tied up in Ult/Rez, and now? she has even MORE power tied up in Ult/Rez
The revert mercy is more the āput a bullet in the head of Valkā movement these days.
I did love the new GA, it was the best part of the rework, and, I think, the ONLY good part. Which is funny, since it was a bug, they decided to keep.
But yeah, the complains that she didnāt have any impact in the team fight, and all of her power was tied up, the rework made it worse, not better.
She is the anti Tracer.

Am I the only one who genuinely dislike mister Badman? I mean, I canāt remember even a single good argument from him about any of balance changes he made, all of them were flawed at best.
He already has kinda bad reputation for screwing HoTs balance in the past, and now he makes nonsense changes like Reaper Lifesteal buff in OW.
Mister G.G., I will never forget Hog rework. And will never forgive.

Because it took very long to stack up all the armor, letalone not die again and loose all the % of it. It didnt really last long enough/wasnt enough armor overall he could give out in comparison to the time it took him to build all of it up.
As if Zarya needed change. I already hate Graviton because of how op it is and they want to make her stronger
Resurrect says hi.
Regardless of herās being very impactful and Reaperās not so much, point still stands that Mercyās is an even more out of combat ability, considering her status as the only healer who has functionally no damage output and entire gameplay is about hiding and flying away.
You can be ballsy and get it, but with the long cast time that leaves a main healer unable to do their job, its better to use it in the beginning of a fight or at the end or when no one else is in immediate danger and you can stop what youāre doing to do it, but then you are also technically out of combat.
Like Reaperās, you canāt very well use it in someoneās face and expect to still be in the fight. Now obviously, we all saw how an in-combat Resurrect went balance wise and it would never be ideal to bring that back, but fundamentally both abilities are clunky and I personally think they can both be removed and replaced with something else that flows with their kit.

Gonna post this video also hereā¦ because there has not been much news this weekend.
I would argue even before the patch that they already are shield bots. You die so damn quick without a barrier up its not even funny its just that goats masks that problem because it is the only way to have a chance of staying alive for any period of time. But any other comp tanks lives are pure misery.
Welp I havenāt seen any news on it 48 hours laterā¦ maybe tomorrow?
(Thought Overwatch Central would talk about it or Ianā¦)
Oh right Kingdom Hearts is coming out tomorrowā¦ never mind.
true, what the dev is suggestion is a quick way to get you 1v6 into oblivion. its such an awkward ability I hardly ever use it. Itās in the lines of only using Mccreeās ult to reload and move on.
Reaperās shadow step is so awful I mainly use it to get back from spawn or to get up to a high ground position. What you are suggesting on how to use it I havenāt seen since Silver Rank. You may want to evaluate hero changes on how people actually play those heroes.
Can we please just make it quieter? Because right now itās sneak level is āthe edge god himself screaming āDEATH COMESā while a sound like a turkey choking on a spraypaint can is in the backgroundā I keep trying to use it to sneak, but that never works because either they can see me or they can hear me, and at this point they might even taste me trying to get to silver. Itās current utility in-game ends up actually being in combat when people are distracted, during setup because of itās mobility, or during D.va nukes because reddit highlight reels and that half-second that you donāt exist.
