Golden weapon changes with OW2?

You know me, hopelessly hopeful. Do you think we’ll get changes to golden weapons in OW2?

They mentioned in the AMA that giving Torb a golden turret broke the game but they are constantly working on fixes so more things can happen?

So do you think we’ll see:

Golden Rein Insignia
Golden Glove Sym
Golden Tyre Junkrat
Golden Snowball
Golden Backpack Moira
Golden Claw Torb
Golden jet pack Winston

Etc etc

I think they should have these, but unlockable as prestige rewards for reaching certain milestones with each individual character. For example:

Tracer golden weapon = stick 500 pulse bombs

Mercy golden weapon = resurrect 1000 teammates.

And you can have variations, so silver and diamond weapons as well for reaching higher milestones.

They should definitely be removed from competitive modes altogether. Competitive modes should have no specific rewards aside from SR or maybe profile icons. Mixing casuals with competitive players due to the competitive points for shiny weapons was a huge mistake.

Ooooh, different platings would be nice indeed. And heck, perhaps a bronze and silver option would be neat for those with less comp points.

Maybe not if you’re good and have no problem with that kind of pressure. It’s still not something I personally agree with. Competitive modes should be played to earn ranks and because the competitive nature is enjoyed. Not for hero skins.

No it makes the grind fun and comp fun but there should be other ways to obtain them but it should take longer and be harder so the comp people are still rewarded

I kinda thought the point was the play more and get better at the game and focus on winning.

The gold guns suck and only ruins the skins. I woudl rather other cosmetics for comp rewards.

Because they were included there in the first place. If they weren’t included, then comp would just be comp and only the people who actually enjoy that sort of play would be playing it, likely improving their experience since they’re not matched with casuals who are just there for the skin.

That’s exactly what the point SHOULD be. But when you add a cosmetic reward to an exclusively competitive mode, you’re gonna attract people who aren’t very competitive and who only want shiny gun.

Meanwhile I’ve got 1460 hours into this game since 2016 and have 0 golden guns because I don’t like comp and didn’t even start playing it until this season. It’s very stressful, and I don’t Iike talking in chat (am female), and I get very anxious. I’d like to have a golden gun for my mains who I’ve got hundreds of hours on, but the stress of comp is just too much. Should be unlockable for time played on each hero and not just for playing one specific mode. It’s unnecessarily exclusionary and not conducive to enjoying the game for everyone.
