Gain points towards a gold gun in all official games modes. By liking or endorsing players at the end of the match. You don’t gain points by liking yourself.

This isn’t a fix my guy, it’s redistribution of merit based rewards to people who don’t want to work at unlocking something special.
I’ll do you one better:
Introduce weapon skins or regular unlocks tied to casual playlists so the golden weapon exclusivity is offset by choices gained through other means. Golden weapons (and new potential competitive rewards) would feel less exclusive as a subset of unlocks as the base game casual audience would be getting multiple new rewards compared to the 1 added to Comp.
Taking away special rewards makes them feel less special. New special rewards need to be added, but by making casual audiences feel like they didn’t get stiffed. You do this by adding multiple similar rewards to the base loot table when a single special reward is introduced to Comp.
How about some perspective: According to the Google there are 4052 unlocks in Overwatch, most of these are base game unlocks, many are tied to seasonal events, some are timed exclusives, some are challenge based. There are currently 89 (soon to be 93) Comp rewards. Of these 88, 44 are participation rewards, 44 are for placing in the Top 500, golden weapons are the only reward that can be earned by routinely playing the mode. If we subtract the 89 from the 4052 there are 3963 rewards that can be earned by playing the base game, if golden weapons are your only fixation, there’s 4051 unlocks. Are we actually going to be salty that we have to play one game mode and work for one reward when there’s 4051/3963 more rewards we can unlock?
they did claim want to make this happen but for some reason after 4 year they still haven’t make it possible to get golden gun outside competitive

I wish they’d make challenges to unlock gold guns like they do with the trophies/achievements for the pixel and cute sprays. I’d also throw in some emotes and highlight intros you can unlock too.
You can do this without redistributing golden weapons though.

Welp, i would like gold guns being somewhere else than just in toxic mode, but devs seem to be aware of possible negative change of the waiting times if that would be a thing.

Good exclusive cosmetics shouldn’t be in one game mode my guy. If the playerbase don’t want to play comp. The playerbase simply don’t want to play comp. If less players play competitive because of this. Then too bad. They need to make their competitive elements better. Don’t force players in a environment they don’t want to be in. They could make it where you gain points slightly faster in competitive compared to other game modes. Other than that. Gold Guns shouldn’t be exclusive to only competitive. Even jeff regret adding gold guns to competitive.
I got one golden weapon and then decided that even those weren’t enough to entice me to play that mode anymore. I haven’t played competitive in months and months. And I’m happier for it.
I don’t think the “Non competitive players playing comp for gold guns” argument makes much sense to be honest because those players will still have to win their games to get competitive points, yes they might not be the most competitive players overall but if they want those gold guns they have to still try their best to win their games and get competitive points.
Reduce the points gained by playing non-comp modes so that people playing comp still have something to look forward to other then the their SR dropping .
Yes i would want to work towards something that ultimately could hurt my mental health more because Blizzard can’t deal with the amount of problems in Competitive, smart.
