GOATS 6vs6 > perks 5vs5

Why the game have perks, i honestly cant remember the reason, and i dont care but was something about making the game more wacky and not safe right? well goats is the perfect game mode for that, is chaotic, ults charge faster, things die, with exception of brigitte which is so much fun to use i dont think any character is op or broken, yeah i get goats have problems like stuns but the game is so much fun, it doesnt have all the crap ow2 introduced, is more simple yet more chaotic, this is how the game should be. goats was a problem only on the league, we normal players were fine, this is the best classic mode so far, the best 6vs6 implementation in ow2, because all 6vs6 test in ow2 are crap and bad balanced

I honestly don’t understand how anyone could like this Goats event. It’s OW1 with OW2’s raid boss tanks. Defense just stacks tanks until progress is stopped and time runs out.

Isn’t this everything wrong with OW1 and OW2 combined into one mode? Or am I missing something?

No the tanks in the goats patch are absolutely nothing like the OW2 tanks. They die very easily by comparison. I had no problem dealing with them as DPS.

There are also no invulns in this patch. Lamp, Suzu, and grip all do not exist. Things actually die when they make misplays.

DPS also have their CC back, so you can deal with tanks that dive or overrun you with things like flashbang and hack. Mei’s also not totally gimped and has value freezing targets.

Literally everything about this patch is better than OW2. It pretty much undoes all the bad mistakes.

That’s because they don’t know how to tank properly. Spoiler for 2018 Overwatch it was impossible to deal with it back then. That’s why GOATS was hard meta. It wasn’t because people really wanted to play tank but because that comp dominated everything in the game.

GOATS was only played at the top of the ladder and in pro play on coordinated teams. For the rest of the player base it was never really an issue.

Are they overtuned in this patch? Possibly. I’m not saying the balance is perfect and will stand the test of time. But are they OW2 tier in strength? Lol not even close.

It has Doomfist is a tank. That’s not an OW1 feature.

Doom is a DPS in this patch.

It was hard meta once you got past metal ranks. We have the participation data from back then to show this. It didn’t pick up steam in the metal ranks because good luck getting 6 people to pick correctly. I did have Plat friends back then and I can tell you every single time they got a team to do it or swap it they rolled effortlessly.

Do you happen to have a source for this? I played in mid-diamond/low-M around that time period and I pretty much never saw it. On occasion people would try to swap to it when they were losing, but lacked the skill and coordination to make it work so it often didn’t prove effective when they did.

Also again I’m not saying balance is perfect, I’m sure they can tweak it if things are too strong. But this isn’t even remotely close to OW2 levels of strength. And as I also mentioned above, there are more ways to deal with tanks than in OW2, making them less oppressive.

OK, I see now that Doom’s stats are back to dps (he had 250 hp) but he’s still tank role. In any case, it was miserable. Oh well to each their own.

I’m glad Blizz made a mode at least some people like. I still don’t see anyone saying perks was a good idea.

Thsi is just a cosmetic bug. It’s open queue so there arent any real roles, so they just label him incorrectly on the scoreboard and stuff. His stats and abilities are identifcal to what they were back in 2019.

tanks arent raid bosses in goats, they die quickly, maybe too quickly, a little buff to their deffense and would be perfect

IDK if they need a buff :laughing:, but they’re definitely not OW2 tanks that’s for sure.

little, or maybe a nerf to ana which is the main issue tanks face in goats if you ask me, even more than brigitte, but this goats patch i feel every character is fun and viable to use

I’d only agree in terms of Sombra. My poor baby, so mutilated by OW2. Still, I’d take perks 6v6 over GOATs 6v6 any day.

GOATs was truly terrible time for balance and stale af too, the roster was so limited. I don’t think the community was ever more miserable than in those days. Now a post GOATs build? That was a pretty good time in terms of balance, but I still wouldn’t turn back the clock myself, there’s too much new that I can’t part with.

i swear is not nostalgia, playing goats was so much fun and i missed nothing new introduced in ow2, nothing, i could play with the characters present, only complete the roster with every ow1 character and role queue, thats it, perfect ow, 6vs6, 2cp, no flashpoint, no clash, no perks, no passives

  • to try to spice up the game (in general and if you like - because of MR)
  • to let people think that them having an influence on the abilities means better balance (and some people enjoyed junkenstein)
  • testing for stadium

Mahvel does not need wack perks to be fun. That’s the problem. And half of these perks contribute literally nothing to begin with. There are only a handful that dynamically change gameplay.

and they failed, ow2 5vs5 problems are bigger than any possible solution perks could bring

this may be a good reason actually, fools think perks are so game changing when sorry, i cant see the difference of choosing between 30% more defense for 3 seconds or 2 points more of damage

stadium itself is the test, they had to rush that crap to compete with mervel rivals, after yeras developing pve and talents they have nothing ready to launch and had to hurry, only 14 characters ready at alunch
