GM14 accounts being abused by top 100 players

Top10 to top 100 players are abusing GM14 accounts to get masters lobby games and climb easily.

Even people who spammed top10 leaderboards with their alt accounts seems to have used this cheap strategy.

Also it’s not exclusive to GM though it’s most abused there , it’s being done across all ranks.

Yes. It is quite literally the reason they are making a new rank.

I think he is wrong about the card system itself. You are ranked up and down in mmr behind the scenes by each match even without “updating the card”.

The system does not use the “visible rank” (SR) for matchmaking but the hidden MMR.

The issue is solely about minmaxing the duo - ie gm1 duoing with a gm4.

edit: nvm, he meant another issue with it

if it uses hidden mmr then wouldn’t he be right?

the gm1 account is duod with a gm4 account that’s on a massive losing streak so allegedly it balances the lobby out to be a lower rank

No thats the part I agree with, but he actually meant another issue with the card system - ie its about who you can group with.
So there are edge cases where your mmr can be even lower than gm4 and a gm1 can still group up with them.

just thought first he was implying that the matchmaking itself used the visual sr for matchmaker, but he was just talking about who you can group with - my bad.

Me, a plat, completely outraged at this

I guess itll be interesting to see if the comp changes they have in the works will make this issue better or worse.

It wouldn’t be too much of an issue if the gm4 account was actually a gm4 player. Not another top 10-100 player on that lower account. It’s just smurfing in the end.

Yeah. Smurfing is a thing no system probably can really be fool proof against in that regard, the game would have to be possibly solo queue only if they wanted to get fully rid of that.

But in the next comp changes they are going to allow gm’s grouping with even bronze players. Thatll be… interesting to see how it works out I suppose.

Yea, I’m curious to see how the new system will work. They said there will still be some restrictions, so maybe gm will still only be able to queue with gm or something, but who knows.

I guess if it’s just wide groups against other wide groups, like masters and silvers together, well at least they can play together and know what they are getting into.

The part that sounds better is solo or groups of close mmr avoiding those groups with big gaps. Where currently they don’t have that option.

A certain pharah one trick who got multiple accounts in top 20 abused this more than maybe anyone else in the game.

I’m not sure how anyone can feel proud of their rank when they know they abused the system to get there, and didn’t climb fairly

Pretty sure a lot of their accounts ended up having echo as their most played, so they are not just a pharah player. But yes, lots of abusing.

There was also a roadhog otp with 90% winrate or something in top 10, fully legit surely

One day, someone is gonna have to explain how that Bronze gameplay ends up in GM

That’s a u2gm and he was in diamond there i think and was stuck there for a while on mercy before climbing.

Considering how the MM abuses you, I wouldn’t say that this is an abuse, rather a counter play. You set this MM into bracket and make it unable to work against you, which in turn make more fair games and less RNG. That is how the MM looks like with turned off EOLMM feature (forced losses) that stack overperforming players with underperforming players. The only reason blizzard call this abuse is because they don’t like when players have a control over their sh*tty system. Anyway, Abuse or get Abused, simple as that.

I wonder who you’re describing here? Name is on the tip of my tongue…
