Yikes. 80% damage boost?
The thing with damage boost is you have to be very mindful of break points. Genji blade or Widow headshot with an 80% is crazzzzyyy style.

Against the right comp, in the right location etc. Due to the destroyable stationary aspect of supercharger it can be… Pretty meh.
oh I know but if mercy has super charger that’s teamwide 50% and unless there’s a specific change saying she can’t damage boost her super charge targets (something that doesn’t exist at the moment), she’ll be able to give 80% damage boost
Fair. She would be able to stack da boost. Itd be a very situational play imo, but yeah could give that impact.
Also the numbers for those interested
Dragonblade=216
swift strike=90
widow headshot=540
Haha what would the FTH roll FTH numbers be? Too lazy to bring up the calc right now. Xmas party ignoring of coworkers for me rn.
1st fth=594
2nd fth=1188 damage total
flash fan= 639
People would complain that she’s doing even less.
Some might, but I don’t think that’s true. Since valk and orisa drum are flat rates, the hero impact comes from engagement. As orisa, I can use my own ult properly and feel great landing headshots . As Mercy , I have to forsake my team boost to use pistol. Now I don’t have to choose either or and can engage with my team instead of choosing between the two
You have some few good points here, ones that everyone in this thread should consider. I guess it’s ‘your mileage may vary’ type of thing in the end of day.
I know exactly how Supercharger plays, because i like playing Orisa when i flex to tanks, and i like it. I think Mercy players need to think this carefully, and play Orisa to see how Supercharger works, before jumping too quickly to conclusions. But still, based on all the replies, i feel like many have already done exactly that, and know exactly what they are talking about.
Few things though:
I think Supercharger, exactly as it is, has pretty good impact and provides that ‘hero moment’ for Orisa. 50% Damage Boost is not something to overlook, especially with Valk being just 30%. I think it could provide same for Mercy.
Idea is that ‘fire and forget’ is considered better than “i’m now forced to use this ult for 15 seconds, and i hate how it plays during that time”. Fire and forget is probably not the most fun ult type, but it’s rather seen as “lesser evil”. Which brings us to…
This is what i never understood no matter how hard i think about it. What’s the “correct way to play”, then? Moving around bit during Valkyrie doesn’t really add depth to it. Switching between mouse 1 and 2? Doesn’t really feel like meaningful gameplay. Res? Not ideal to do that during Valk, it doesn’t improve rez in any way anymore. Too risky to use as well.
Ignoring chain beams and just going full DPS with infinite ammo and flying is pretty much the fun part. Problem with that is all the people telling it’s the wrong way to use Valk as you are not healing/dmg boosting.
I’m really confused about this. What this ‘right way’ is? I don’t really play Mercy, and no one ever explained it to me…
I don’t know tbh. I see people use that argument for valk all the time but… It’s a flat rate . It doesn’t matter how close or far Mercy is , the healing and dmg is the same. Her target doesn’t matter, her range doesn’t so… No idea
You cant see how Supercharger is actualy better than Valk? LOL
Supercharger gives 50% damage buff
Mercy M2 gives 30% damage buff
“But Mercy can heal with AOE”
She cant damage amp and heal same time. Mercy also is able to keep her teammates alive when they are in her line of sight, for the AOE work they need to be in LOS, so whats the point, healing 5 players with 60HPS when Trans can heal up to 300HPS.
“But Mercy can fly”
Yeah thats why she has wings, a good Mercy player has to be able to fly with GA.
“But super jump is not actualy flight”
Also planning with huge glowing wings at low speed is super helpfull against snipers.
And make orisa fly? I’m in! Would be interesting seeing two tons centaur robot flying around in the battlefield.
next you’ll tell us deadeye is useless
implying that supercharger is a bad ult?
The Jokes on OP lol
the complaint is the lack of interactiveness of the ult. not it’s actual power. valk is respectively impactful when judged as its own. your suggestion actually removes even more interactiveness of valk by removing the need to think when to m1 and when to m2
Better yet…
#GiveOrisaValkyrie
Orisa is also an anchor tank with a CD based shield. Zone control. Mercy is not. She is a mobile on the move type hero. Orisa at least can zone around the supercharger, Mercy cannot.
That’s fine. Like if Mercy mains want a fire and forget type ult alright then. Itd be similar to Nano in that sense. However, that is really dependent on other peoples plays, and doesnt provide that “hero moment” I see so frequently referenced.
Due to limitations of chain, and how certain comps can play out, there is a slight juggling element. This was most noticable when playing reworked Mercy with dive orientated comps. Then you have the damage boost vs heal element, and you have the avoidance of damage which, at times, requires you to avoid the sky box.
There is then also the ability to pop a pistol and smash on someone.
While I do understand complaints about Valk seeming “ez” I dont think underselling it provides anything constructive to the conversation.
Oh and for the “super charger is 50%” and such. It’s still stationary, destroyable. If I’m on Tracer I will double blink one clip and recall your super charger within 5s of you dropping it.
Mercy just holding right click will provide far more value in that setting than Supercharger could dream of.
Even IF her staff damage boost effect nullified during supercharger mercy so that she cannot damage boost to 80%, we can still sustain our team with res and heal while simultaneously boosting their attack by 50%. I’m sure i’d prefer this thing rather than flying like a moth.
