Give Us Role Queue

We need Role queue, it would help so much in this terrible matchmaking that puts 5 support mains on a team one game but then 0 support mains on either team the next.

This issue could be solved without role queue. Some simple logic could be added to the matchmaker that makes it less likely to put 2 Mercy one-tricks on the same team. Things like that. We don’t need a role queue that limits everyone to 2-2-2 team comps and nothing else.

They are.

It was mentioned in a comment they made earlier that the next season of comp would include a role select.

You choose your main role and a secondary role, and it matches you with other players.

so many games i see with 4supp mains vs 4dps mains. how is that fair?? its absolutely frustrating.

I think just adding logic to try and get a team that could build a viable 2-2-2 format would work best. Locking every game into 2-2-2 just creates a stale game. Sometimes I want to run triple tank/quad tank, and sometimes I want to run a Symm alongside two healers.

I gotta be blunt with this. The problem isn’t the matchmaking in this situation, the problem is the players. One-tricking and maining, you guys are limiting yourselves, refusing to grow, and expecting the devs to work around you; that’s the issue.

I’m glad they’re going to put it in and give it a try. I’m excited to see how well it works. I also think that a good addition to that would be to be able to choose your preferred team comp.

Do we know if the role queue will have an option for flex players? They could be put in any match (probably a lot of matches where someone leaves), and in any role requirement. I think with that, teams would be able to be put together a lot quicker with enough flex players in the mix. Maybe more people would even be willing to choose flex for the sake of a shorter queue time?

I for one agree with role queue. However Symmetra needs to be slotted in Defense first or giving an ability to heal.

Also since I main Support/Tank, I look forward to the speedy queue times, which the DPS mains won’t enjoy :frowning:

It’s been said time and time again, yet they don’t listen. They’re ever fearful of this “oh noes, we will force a meta” mentality. When in reality, every single meta from the existence of the game to now, he has at least one tank and one healer. Just giving every team at least that much, would already improve comp significantly.

This seems like probably the best solution, because there will be people who trend to lean toward/main a role or hero. Blizzard has the stats, so the only question is how to program it. Even if it makes queue times a bit longer that would be OK if it prevents the issue most of the time.
