Give Rein more survivability

Only three tanks have no way to actively gain any type of hp from their kit Rein being one of them. The other two are Dva and Zarya but both of them have defensive abilities on their regular cooldown that don’t hinder them in any way. Obviously Rein has his shield but that slows his movement speed. Inherently that isn’t an issue but when you have matchups with another tank who can easily out survive Rein because they have just more beneficial abilities that either dont hinder or hardly at all makes it ten time sworse. Even with other heroes who have similar drawbacks to their abilities they also have other things to help them survive along side that. Ram does slow down with his block but also has a shield, cc that slows and pulls you to the ground, and can gain armor when he uses nemesis. So where is Rein’s? Why does Rein literally have no way to survive other than his shield that is only front facing 1400 hp with a 30% speed penalty? Why give Rein’s only unique help with survivability to every other tank?

So the point being where is Rein’s help? It’s not like he necessarily has trouble doing dmg and getting kills its entirely to run Rein effectively you’d have to literally hold both of his hands while assisting him with walking. But then at that point why not just run another tank at half the trouble? Unless we revamp parts of his kit why not just go the easier route and give him survivability on a passive? Or maybe even add survivability in his abilities? Some being like reduce dmg while charging, hitting enemies with hammer gives reduce dmg/cc. On shield break speed boost. Maybe somehow implement getting shields or armor. Again those are just ideas but like it boogles my mind Magua has a similar ability being charge that one can stun multiple people, two has dmg reduction while using it, and three literally has no way to interrupt him while using it. Meanwhile rein’s charge only con compared to mag’s is that it does more dmg. + Magua has a whole passive that regen’s health, while also having an ability that helps regens his own health and his teammates.
And btw this is rough list of all the tanks and their ways to survive being movement based cc etc and or techs to compare and contrast. there might be some things missing but the point is to show how little rein has to work with.

D.va - Matrix that has a very short cd, boosters to fly and knockback enemies, on mech death you can ult to get a chance at a free mech with call mech doing 250 dmg
Doom - Two movement abilities that both give shields on hit that also are cc. Block is a dmg reduction while also giving a chance to reset punch cd. Ult regens hp and gives more shield than regular per hit.

Queen - Everything but her gun heals her. All of her abilities have the chance to hit multiple people racking up healing. Shout gives temp health and a speed boost to her and allies. Ult does anti heal while also being movement.

Mauga - Passive that heals when headshots + his guns have a built in way to do headshots even without actually hitting the head. Overrun being cc and reduces dmg while using it that can hit multiple at once. An ability that heals for 60% of dmg done while also giving it to allies that heals at the same rate for themselves. Ult creates a big shield doom that disables movement abilities while also giving Magua unlimited ammo. Seriously why does he has so much little details to his kit while Rein has the most basic kit ever lol.

Orisa - Gold gives health and a dmg reduction also disabling headshots. Javelin stuns and when pushed into wall does extra dmg. Her spin block projectiles while also giving a speed boost and knockback. Terra surge is a cc that also gives gold to orisa regardless if its off cd.

Ram - A shield, CC that forces you to the ground. Nemesis gives 225 armor speed boost and also block that reduces 75% dmg. His ult regardless if nemesis is on cd activates which can be used to give more 225 alongside having the chance to make nemesis 20 secs long.

Reinhardt - Front facing shield, Shatter stuns while being able to do increase dmg at a close range and charge is movement along side being able to do 275 + 50 contact dmg

Hog - Self heal that also reduces dmg. A pull that locks you out while being pulled. Whole hog having massive knockback. Pig pen also slows down and can be comboed with hook

Sigma - Grasp being a mini dva matrix that give him shield based on amount of dmg absorbed. A shield along side a cc that does go through matrix/grasp. Flux being cc and also doing 50% hp.

Winston - Jump, barrier dome and as well ult gives 800 hp while also reducing cd for jump.

Ball - Adaptive shields. Ball is literally a ball who rolls around at mach speed lmao. Slam being cc as well his ult being an area denial.

Zarya. Barrier that has two charges that in turns powers up Zarya. Grav is a cc that fully locks people down together.

Don’t give him more HP or more BarrierHP.
I think Rein needs more movement speed. Which works defensively, but also works offensively.

Since he’s literally make or break on whether or not he can get into Hammer range.

Reduce the barrier movement penalty perhaps

Well yeah, but I’m worried about how you would do that, without moving the game towards Rush.

The idea I had was a large reduction in barrier movement penalty, but make it so that barriered movement speed doesn’t benefit from speedboosts.

Alternatively, just do something simple, and give Rein 6.0m/s movement speed, instead of 5.5m/s.

Which is just a flat 9% buff to his overall movement speed. Comparable to Tracer and Genji.

But it’s enough to make it so that he’s a THREAT if he’s able to just walk at you without the barrier up.

Apparently a 1400 hp barrier doesn’t count. Not saying Rein doesn’t need help, but you can’t use this as part of your argument.

Yea it doesn’t count cause it’s a barrier and not a health type… if he’s one hp he puts up his barrier he’s still 1 hp…? I’m confused on what you mean

Just give him over health for hitting fire strikes.

Honestly imo there is no reason for Rein to have his movement speed debuff on his barrier anymore.

With mobility creep in this game, and solo tank, there is no need for it. That 1 change might take Rein from zero to hero.
