Give me one reason. Why play Genji anymore + why am I quiting

Before you start commenting like “Oh, another quitting thread, cya” or “Nothing to see here, move on” or “See you in a week”. I would like to save these for yourself, thank you in an advance.

Give me one reason why would you play Genji over Tracer, Hanzo, Soldier etc.?

I will give you one - his ultimate. But wait, his ult is trash. Yea imagine - the flashies ult in the game, the ult that this community thinks that turns Genji into undying god of death is useless and bs. You get one fat blade once per 10 games with more than 3 people. Like all the planets should be in a very specific position to get a good blade.

But forget his ult, let’s talk about h is “movement”. “BuT hIS moBILity iS oF THe cHARts XDddd, wUt r U talKinG bOUT”. Genji has only his swift strike for mobility and that’s it. Wall Climb doesn’t help you in the middle of the fights. It’s only good for repositioning and trying to escape. Tracer on the other hand has all the horizontal mobility and can do whatever she wants.

The thing with Genji is you have a very small opening to get a kill but Tracer ignores that fact. She can force these windows due to her stupid mobility.

Tracer has sustain damage meaning she can output 240 damage every 2 or 3 seconds. Genji has a dumb combo that you have to excute perfectly which deals around 220-225 damage. But wait, wait, wait. Brigette says hi. You get a target low and you are about to kill him/her but not too fast. We have an ability that is like Zen orb but actually heals for 150 and also gives armour because why not? Also guess what? You have no recall to save you from all the upcoming CC and to give you all of your hp back. Then, the Brigette, with all of her 200 hours practicing to get that pristine aim beats your skull with that hammer until you die.

“Genji was meta for over a year, get over it”. First of all he wasn’t meta for over a year. He was getting outshined in his own “meta”. He was C tier at best. And no, I won’t get over it. I spent 220+ hours on him getting good gamesense, positoning, animations cancels, combos and most importantly AIM. Now all of these hours went in the garbage can.

“Genji didn’t have any counters since launch”. Of course he did. It’s called aim. What most people actually have in Diamond and Masters( yes I was Master last season, deacyed to 3370, placed 3400 and fell down to current).

“Overwatch is not all about aim, you know?” Ofcourse I know. I play the game. I can’t hit Diamond nor Master with silver postioning and gamesense, can I? What is securing kills is your ability to aim, gamesense and postioning only help you with not dying and wasting ults. Ïf you want aim to be the major skill CoD is --------> that way". And if you want holding one button to deal damage constantly League is ------------------------> that way.

“Just by keeping your distance from Brigette you won’t die”. Oh boi, you don’t play much Genji and Tracer, don’t you" THE ENTIRE POINT OF THESE HEROES IS TO GET CLOSE. Genji’s damage from a distance easily gets healed back up and Tracer doesn’t deal any. Having a support with shield, armour, armour stacking capabilities, instant heal on a low CD, CC on low CDs, 250hp of which 50 is armour, doesn’t require any aim at all and having 12 meter death radius (counting the shield bash as a gap closer) is beyond me.

Supports have alwasy dominated the meta. It’s not the tanks, tanks get viable after a support is strong.

Season 2, 3, 4 - shield wars with Ana. (btw it’s extremely boring to watch and play that meta. It’s all about who presses Q more that who can actually aim.)
Season 5, 6, 7, 8 - Mercy meta. With Ana dead Mercy became the best healer in the game. She had ridiculous movement and healling capabilities. With Lucio in season 5 which was more chaotic and then after that with Zen. Just a tip. In order for Dive to work your team has to be as good and coordinated as a Swiss watch and on top of that you need all the mechanical skill on the world. But hey, silvers and golds are sick of Dive so why not nerf the DPS heroes and add heroes like Moira and Brigette ?
And now we have season 10 - Brigette CC spam meta with lots of Qs and cheap ways to win a fight. As long as it’s not Dive is fine amirate?

Anyway, I am salty and angry to myself, to the devs for realising free sr machines for silver support mains, to the endless complaing of the community, to my friends for dumping the game and me with it etc.

Unistalling after the event ends. There is no point of playing this game anymore. All of my 25+ friends left and I am all alone. The competitive spirit I once had 4 seasons ago of improving, constatly blamimg myself and trying to find the mistakes and what I could’ve done better, trying different playstyles etc. is dead. I don’t feel urge to win anymore. (This is probably the hardest game to quit - I quit CoD, CS, Titanfall without much caring, but this time it feels really terrible, I love the game and everything about it - the art style,the concept, most of the heroes etc. What I don’t like is free sr machines and no skill heroes and the game’s current balances state.)

Apperantly “Genji is fine and balanced like always”. He was underpowered for 5 seasons and useless in 2.

Didn’t we say this game is all about flexing? So, why should you get to play Genji every game? You should be playing healers and tanks or get reported like the rest of us :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t read all of this but I will say one reason to play genji over hanzo. Because genji counters hanzo a lot better than hanzo himself

Don’t suggest that! He’s already sensitive, and really vulnerable right now! OP can’t handle the thought of trying out one of the many other heroes.

Play him to unleash your inner weeb. And also to experience why bringing a knife to a mace fight is a terrible idea. Melee never should have existed in an fps game to begin with.

I do tho. I can play 4+DPS heroes and I can play Ana(dont count Mercy, Moira and Brigette as they don’t need any skill), and I learned Winston and Roadhog. The probelm is I find myself playing them more often and getting more value out of them even tho I have less dedication and time on them. And the are not fun. I find fun only 3 heroes - Genji, Hanzo and Ana.

Uh, no. I flexed onto genji for the past few seasons.

He was above average during the dive meta (like, 4 - 5 seasons?)
He was/is below average/mildly bad during triple tank and the current meta.
Overall, he seems to be an average hero… maybe a slightly below average hero at worst. He’s not quite as bad as Sombra, S76, Mei, Bastion, Torb and Symm for example.

But you’re right, there’s like 0 reason to play genji in this meta.

I also agree that the forums VASTLY overestimates how good genji is. Don’t play genji this meta - there’s literally no reason to.

Edit: And in case anyone says “counter hanzo.” The fight against hanzo is like a 60/40 split favouring genji in a 1 v. 1… and Hanzo will be pocketed 90% of the time. All he has to do is stall for a few seconds, and genji’s dead.

Tracer has always been the better flanker and always will be lol. Genji has to do more work for his kills

The problem is with the excisting of Brigette I will never have the possibility to play my hero without getting stunend every 6 seconds booped, my targets instantly healed and bashed to death.

Edit: I know that Genji is better than Symm, Torb and Bastion but that is like one step away from their tier. Mei is fine making Reins and Zaryas miserable with walls and 76 isn’t that bad.

I mean…You are a silver with a silver portrait plus one star. Why do you think you know better than me about my hero? May be in silver Brigettes suicede like everyone else but in Diamond/Master/GM Brigette’s use their brain and shield when they are feeling pressured? But just may be…
