GG players are hypocrites

I propose to introduce a permanent ban for “GG” and “EZ” in the general chat after the end of the game. If the game is good, then say it ONLY in the team chat, because for the enemies it was complete despair and not a game. It’s better to immediately ban people who say nasty things like “EZ” or “Rekt” to the losing team. Well, the hypocrites who say “GG” should be counted among them. This is disgusting and discourages the desire to play for fun, but on the contrary to do and say nasty things to other players.

I say gg whether I win or lose 9 times out of 10 as long as both teams were trying.

Stop looking for nonsensical reasons to feel like a victim.

How about no. GG is a sign of sportsmanship. I’ve played sports all my life, and if you are seeing GG as an insult, it make you seem like the poor loser.

if u get fired up over a GG then its a you problem ngl

The problem is that many people don’t know the real meaning of “GG”, which has been consolidated over the years in major e-sports such as Starcraft:

  • GG - A term meaning “Good Game” it usually means surrender in StarCraft tournaments.

the new generations do not understand that it can be erroneously perceived badly by the enemy team who perhaps sincerely wants to compliment the losers or vice versa, when instead it would be used by the losers who now admit defeat. it is the equivalent of throwing down the king to end a lost chess game, elegantly indicating “I surrender.”

Here’s the paradox: do those who use it know that this is the true meaning of GG in “gaming etiquette”? Evidently not, creating continuous misunderstandings among those who see us as a denigration which in reality is not really expressed by many people.

On the contrary, I find EZ offensive when a fight was REALLY good on the part of both teams. that’s where I find the hypocrisy and disrespect.

Dude, if you consider losing “complete despair” in a game with an expected 50% WR, perhaps multiplayer games aren’t for you.

It ain’t that serious, if it was a good match “GG” is nowhere near toxic, and you’re delusional to think it should ever be ban worthy.

Yeah the “Gg lol” in stomps is unnecessary, but it’s whatever.

Do you say this after a stomp? After a 5 to 10 minute session of spawncamping?

Context here matters.

You can’t sit there and exclaim “I’m a good person!” Thus forcing everyone’s judgement around your own idea.

Plus you cannot control nor ignore how players feel about a match.

Its much better to be consideratr and realize that the phrase is divisive this day and age.

Yes. Whether winning or losing, as long as both sides are regularly trying.

Ya, no. Not buying this.

Whoa there Nelly. GG is a term of goodwill, essentially communicating to your team that they accomplished something, and the rough equivalent of the “good game” handshake that occurs after sporting matches.

It is a display of GOOD sportsmanship, whereas EZ is abhorrent and should result in the person invoking it having their teeth rot and being plagued with an ugly smile and bad breath for life.

Sorry but this is completely irrelevant. Some made up divisiveness does not matter to someone who doesn’t overthink it and says it for basic sportsmanship. It’s a you problem.

I expect being spawncamp and completely unable to even contest in against a steamroll is the actual form of despair in OW2.

Like it or not it is still thee worst scenario any player will face.

The feeling of getting no value, getting frustrated to the point of self blame or blaming teammates, potentially getting opponents to disrespect you indirectly.

Like there is no honor is striking a downed foe. But here in OW2, I have yet to see honor like that on display.

“GG and love on.” Yeah negative thoughts last a lot longer than the couple minutes it takes to que into another match.

It may have been 5 to 10 minutes of getting stomped into the floor, but that was 5 to 10 minutes of your own free time just to wind up freeing more stressed and depressed than before those 5 to 10 minutes of agony.

No its quite simple.

Certain phrase can mean good things but to others it means another thing entirely.

In Filipino culture there is a sweet rice cake dessert whose name and pronuciation mean something foul in Spanish.

Its as simple as that.

People will percieve it differently and sitting here telling everyone that the word on screen has only a single meaning is very toxic and unconsiderate.

People feel how they feel and you cannot control that. What you do with those feelings is how it matters.

Then lets be honest here. This is a video game. A hobby. Its not a sport. Its competitive yes, but even then you should be honorable with those who are passionate about the game.

So consider them and they’ll consider others. Its not only the right thing to do, but it also creates a friendly environment.

Lol no, banning gg people.

Real talk, clowns like OP are the reason why you can’t say anything in chat anymore without a real risk of undue silencing, suspensions or bans. All it takes is one of these “entities” to take offense at something and report and BAMN!

And this is why I’m against GGEZ in all of its forms if there’s people like this defending it.

Calling people slurs and names when they really never even mean “thanks for the match.”

Refer to my reference for wording.

It means one thing to one player but can mean another to a different player. You cannot dictate what it means across the entire player community. Nor can you control how they feel about it.

It is divisive.

There is a difference between GG and GGEZ

GG by itself is just a generic responce/sign of sportmanship.

GGEZ is something toxic which is why its censored to a degree in OW.

Getting mad that someone said GG is like getting mad that someone held a door open for you.

Hide your chat. Not everyone was raised to be a piece of melted cheese like you. Many people are totally fine seeing gg ez even after getting stomped.

Mate if youre getting this mad at a gg you’ve got to go outside

I’m not so sure anymore.

You don’t see GGEZ anymore since it is a reportable and easily identified by the ban bot, but often times its only the winning players typing GG.

Some can even confess to using “GG” as a method of saying “GITGUD” to replace GGEZ.

Soooo…who are you to decide it means one yet not the other?

You cannot speak for others and good merit forced is never actual good merit.

Good means people percieve it that way from the get go.
