Getting routed to the wrong server

I live in Boise, Idaho and I have always been routed to the lax1 server because it is the closest server. However, these past few days the game has been routing me only to matches on the ord1 server for the east coast. This means that my ping is constantly doubled simply because I am unable to connect to lax1. The only time I connected to lax1 in these past few days, my ping was actually higher than it is on the east coast ord1 server. Usually, turning off my internet and turning it back on seems to fix this issue. However, this time it had no effect on it. It’s frustrating to play with doubled ping, especially because of something so simple as me being routed incorrectly.

I would love if somebody could help me fix this issue! All input is appreciated! Thank you!

UPDATE

I have found out that this appears to be an issue with CenturyLink, as the only people who share this issue with me have CenturyLink as their ISP. However, I am not sure how to go about having this fixed because I am getting the correct download speed and all of that, and the only issue appears to be within Overwatch rather than with the entirety of my internet.

These kind of issues belong to #technical-support, i’d recommend you take this issue to #technical-support they might be able to fix it for you.

Alright, thank you!!

I’m having the exact same issue. Over here in Kuna, ID with Centurylink (fiber) and i’m always connecting to ord1 servers. Noticed my ping jump from 42 to 72 because of it. :frowning:

I’m in Europe AND I AM GETTING ROUTED TO ORD1. Wtf is going on? I don’t have american servers picked even, I’ve got european region picked.

I have CenturyLink as well, so I’m thinking it’s an issue between CenturyLink and Blizzard servers. I just logged in again and I am currently being routed back to lax1, however, the ping is between 80-90 on the server that should have around 40-50 ping. I installed Haste and it doesn’t seem to have any effect on it, so I’m guessing we’re just gonna have to wait it out and let CenturyLink fix it over time, which, knowing them, is gonna be a long while.

The staff has acknowledged that Century Link users were having issues over the last few weeks, but the problem needs to be corrected by the ISP and is not a Blizzard issue.

Been experiencing the same issue. Usually I’m on Lax1 with 45-50 ping but lately I’m being routed to Ord1 with 70-75 ping. I did get routed to Lax1 once today but my ping was actually higher at 90-95.
