Getting rid of rez (mercy main feedback wanted)

So I’m imagining this: mercy is healing someone and presses E (new pacify ability - the name can be changed) but it allows her to cast the ability over that teammate (this thing would last for 2 - 3 seconds). If that teammate died during that time (went to 1 health, so not necessarily dead), they would get 1/2 or 3/4 of their health back. It would look sorta like a zarya bubble but with a bright halo around their waist.

Along with this, we would boost her base healing to 65 or 70 hps and make it 75 or 80 in valk

Thoughts?

It’s kind of a rough idea, but I feel like this could be easily and fairly balanced/refined, and bring back some fun to the hero

I think this is actually amazing?? it’s like that one Pokemon move that lets you take damage but sustain to 1hp !!!

I have almost 100 hours on mercy (total QP+comp) so I kinda have a good idea about what would be more fun and what wouldn’t and I think this would definitely make things more interesting and take the pressure off of 1. being expected to rez a teammate and 2. risking your life/dying because of it.

It’s good!!! maybe someone can @ the devs or something haha

Has more counter play, doesn’t take her away from healing for too long and provides her with a higher skill ceiling which is desperately needed. Its also much easier to balance around and she gets her 60hps back with that in her kit. Add in Valk and she’d be good at consistently healing the team through sustained damage with the potential to save from burst.

I’m all for it.

Awesome!

That’s kinda what I was thinking about while writing this

It seems kinda silly to me. Resurrect is far more valuable since it restores to full health. I’d rather not lose an iconic part of Mercy’s entire character and gameplay. Pacify as stated here seems like a better E ability than Valkyrie.

As long as we can scrap Valkyrie and give her an actual support ultimate im on board then

Because it doesn’t full heal, it can be placed on E and have a much shorter cd and have it reset on death. It also can be used a lot faster, meaning she doesn’t have to choose between healing and utility as much.

It opens up for the rest of Mercy’s kit to be buffed while still giving her clutch healing potential.

I have 600 hours on Mercy across 4 accounts, I’ve mained her since the game came out.

I’d take pretty much any E ability over Rez at this point.

I’ll come in as another Mercy main supporting the removal of mass rez (or rez in general). If it bumps up her skill floor a bit, and gives me some midfight that will actually help my team while alive, I’m all for it.

I like the idea, its pretty creative but im imaging how that would work with a tank and seem pretty annoying like if you kill hog, he’ll just come back and breathalize to full and with ults, a mccree could highnoon nearly die then get full heal while still casting highoon, if it works like that
Also the heal buff make no sense to me I understand wanting her to go back to 60hps but you want it to go above 60hps, it was nerf for a reason
I like the idea of buffing valk healing, i think maybe lowering her ult charge too

Sounds interesting and all I think 60 hp/s should be enough for her healing again. But on the other side valk would still be her ult which I just hate. Like really hate. It is a terribly boring ultimate for Mercy and doesnt give any sort of gameplay change or burst impact like any other ultimate does.

It didn’t work for rez, but throwing on 2 charges of whatever they decide to name this ability could be pretty game changing.

Removing rez would be like swapping out Hanzo’s bow for a pistol, or taking away Reinhardt’s shield. You can’t do it without destroying the character.

People need to recover from their “my PotG was stolen” PTSD and realize that as an ult, AoE rez was never supposed to be “fun to play against.” That defeats the entire point of an ult in the first place.

AoE rez can be tweaked so it feels more fair to play against. But an ult that doesn’t feel “disheartening to play against” when it’s used well isn’t much of an ult at all. Who likes being wiped by dragonblade, or rendered helpless by EMP? The same principle applies to rez as an ult.

I am okay removing rez IF AND ONLY IF the following happen:

(If we want her to be the “main healer” THEN MAKE HER ONE.)

-Her healing beam is put back to 60hp/s.

-Her damage boost beam gets some sort of added “slow down” CC or something tied to it. Where say a soldier hits the enemy with bullets WITH damage boost the enemy will be slowed by like 20% or something.

-We go full MMORPG healer with her meaning the following:

a.) She gets an AOE burst heal on cooldown that burst heals all allies in range.

b.) She gets a single target MASSIVE heal that she needs to charge up (similar to torbjorn armor pack charge mechanic that she earns.)

Similar to MMORPGs where large single target heals cost more mana, this will cost more investment to get the burst heal.

c.) She gets a weak HoT she can place on a single ally character at a time.

Like 10hp/s or something. This can STACK with her primary healing beam to give a single target 70hp/s.

If we want her to be the “main healer” THEN MAKE HER ONE.

Then you use valk for that ability just like with rez. Thats why valk is terrible it just isnt an ult without some OPAF ability like rez tied to it. After they took away rez from valk it just showed that it isnt much more than a buffed up e-ability.
Plus the clunky flight mechanics and the chain beams which only take away from her skill ceiling. I am sorry but there is a lot wrong with valk which I just cant get behind. Here is a bit older thread going over those things.

I am completely against get rid of Rez; Rez is part of Mercy’s identity, remove it is like remove Tracer’s Recall, Genji’s Deflect, Torb’s turret etc…

I don’t understant why people hate Rez that much, it is bringing back ONE teammate, just one, there is heroes like Widow and Hanzo who can delete 2/3 of a 2-2-2 comp in less than 15 seconds, while Mercy can only bring back one teammate every 30 seconds…

Widow/Hanzo deleting (One shotting) 2 squishs in the first 10 seconds of the match = fine and fair, no problem…
Mercy bringing back one teammate in the first 10 seconds = SIN, UNFORGIVABLE AND BRONKEN SIN, REMOVE IT!!111!!!111!!!

:unamused:.

You’d want to be careful with the hps. Rez is powerful but, for many people it’s not that powerful. I personally get around 1 every two minutes when I’m doing well and around 1 every one and a half when I’m doing poorly. Rezing makes me miss out on healing and makes me vulnerable. It’d be easy to end up op trading hps for rez at least at low skill levels.

I think you’d want to test the ability before actually making the animation for it. I think that could easily be a more frustrating ability than the current res.

Hanzo’s scatter…

Anyways OP I think Rez should just go. Idk how balanced this idea is but I love the thought of a Divine Palm mechanic.

That’s pretty similar to an idea I heard somewhere else and have been talking about in my recent posts. A buff, to put onto an ally and if they take lethal damage, they would get healed for a certain percent of their maximum health. They’d still be in critical condition, so Mercy would still have to take care of them to help them survive, but it’d feel somewhat similar to rez, so people who liked that, will probably like this as well.

Personally, I’d like that as an ultimate ability in an AoE around her, with a small cast time similar to Lucio’s ultimate and give her another new E ability. For an ult, it’d finally make sense for her to yell “Heroes never die!” with this. It’s also a proactive ult and would have to be used before her allies died.
As for her new E, I read a suggestion that would be a buff to put onto an ally, that would reduce the incoming damage for 3 seconds and spread it out over the next 6 seconds as damage over time instead. I think that’d feel great for her as well with how consistent her healing is.

But that’s only my opinion. I really like the inital idea in this thread for an E ability as well, I just tried to think of a way to also get rid of Valk.

As for her Healing, it should simply go back to 60hp/s, nothing more, nothing less. That was never a problem after all.
