So recently I received a “2-day mute” chat ban. Which sucks considering how much communication required, unfortunate for me. I would feel my only complaint is similar I know many future players will have, retaliatory reports… Ever since placement matches my games went well 7-3 despite one game having a leaver, otherwise, I’d possibly have went 8-2. Low gold is where I was placed, which is where I average, ever since I hit a string of unfortunate games I notice many reports in silver (1500-1800) were incredibly petty. Petty to the extent of,“oh they picked ________ to report them” or someone who gets frustrated and just throws the game threatens to report everyone. I ran into a few games like this, one game where a party reported me out of frustration for playing widow despite doing well. Another game where someone flipped over a bastion selection, and one where of course early character selection cause such stress the player decided it was not in his or her best interest to try. In each of these games, I received what I’m calling a “petty/retaliatory” report.
Yes, I will admit I’ve had moments of rage vocally and I’m sure some of my reports come from those too.
Is there a way to determine the validity of the report I.E one player in a game was reported by 5 players, but player A reported all 5 too, therefore, player 1’s report is void. Our party of 5 reports the 1 player for not being up to their standards, and that’s his or her’only report. they don’t get report often so in a day or so it falls off. Yet our player A gets constantly reported, which leads us to believe he or she is straight toxic.
Again I’m not saying I should not have been given a chat mute, It would have come eventually. I am saying I earned it over petty/retaliation reports, the same type that will effect other players.
i think its less likely you were banned for teams reporting you on hero pick, and more likely for being reported because of your rage. youre allowed to play what you want, and if the whole team reports you for picking bastion or something like that, you shouldnt be banned. take it up with blizzard.
please dont rage over mic it helps nobody and makes the game horrible for everybody who’s on your team.
From what I understand, Blizzard isn’t interested in groups/teams ganging up to mass report so much. Instead they track trends over multiple games.
From what I’ve heard of LoL’s system, it devalues reports from people that spam them. This may or may not have been copied by others like Blizzard, but without dev commentary there’s no way to know, and they aren’t exactly likely to tell us.
Being reported isn’t the issue, being reported because someone is upset something didn’t go their way is what I’m pointing out. I even clearly stated I would have eventually received the mute, but it’s unfortunate it came via rage over comp not on my end.
you cant say why exactly you were muted, or which straw broke the camels back. blizzard wont tell you why you were muted, either, other than saying bad team work or griefing or whatnot. take the 2 days, try to chill out and enjoy the game. i used to rage so hard at fps games a few years ago, but with ow after playing a ton of off meta heroes and feeling all the rage of all the teammates, you get over it. there is another game 10 minutes away with new people and a new chance to do well.
Yeah a friend of mine got busted on here too for “rage” on here. He’ had someone that had all of their friends log on and report him, because they didn’t agree with his idea of “Fair comp” that he posted in the forums. He got a week ban and even appealed it with no luck. They flagged it as “hate speech”. Even though not a single word of it was hateful. He is back FINALLY. I highly doubt his appeal was read. It’s dangerous waters right now. Tread carefully my friend.
