Getting packet loss icon showing constantly

Yet when I’m checking with WinMTR there’s seemingly no issues?

During the time I ran this I experienced insane rubber banding in the game and the packet loss icon was showing.

The first hop in the ISP network has a worst ping of 104ms, so that’s where some of the lag is starting, and builds from there.

But the problem is packet loss in the game, not the ping. The WinMTR isn’t showing any packet loss at all while I’m getting packet loss in the game. I’ve never experienced any rubber banding due to ping that low, it always happens with packet loss but this time there’s no packet loss showing on winmtr even, only the icon in the game when it happens and it was happening when I was doing the winmtr but it’s not showing any packet loss on it, so how am I having packet loss in the game while running the winmtr but it’s not showing up on winmtr?

How are you measuring packet loss in game though? If it’s on the netgraph, then it’s possible you still have packet loss in the route because WinMTR only tests once per second, whereas Overwatch is 63 ticks per second. However, if it’s real packet loss, usually it will show on the WinMTR eventually.

If you are calling it packet loss due to visual delays, then you’d be looking at a performance issue on the machine itself.

I just see the icon showing and there’s nothing on winMTR.

I’ve let it run the whole day now and there’s some dropped packets(like 100 out of 90000) during the whole day but I’ve had the icon showing quite often in OW. It doesn’t really add up that it’s so few packets dropped in winmtr when I’m having the icon showing in OW as often as it is and producing such problems. Is the serious packet loss on the last hop(s) that are not showing in winMTR when tracing to overwatch servers?

I’m not having any problems in WoW, Apex legends, Hearthstone, CS or League of legends, it’s only in Overwatch.

Which logo?

This icon pulses when your client hasn’t heard from the server for a period longer than your interpolation delay. If this icon is consistently pulsing, it may indicate a connection problem, and can cause erratic behavior in game.

This icon will pulse when packet loss is detected. This could indicate a connection problem and can result in erratic game behavior if it goes on for an extended period of time.

If the packet loss was that serious you wouldn’t be able to stay connected.

The second one.

Played some OW again and it was showing rather often during the game, yet winMTR that I restarted at some point during the day shows this:

There’s a total of… 91 packets dropped over 10 hours. No problem in any other games I’ve been playing but the moment I started OW, I’m having the packet loss icon showing in the game and getting issues with the game.

oh more players abusing their bad ping to get comp advantages
