“we want to reduce the number of one shots in OW2” WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT? May as well give all dps 1 health, would feel the same. As a tank you never die, as a dps you die almost instantly.
What would be your thoughts if everybody had Apex style Rez, without the crawling?
(Combined with lowering overall sustain in the gamea bit).
I figure that would drastically reduce how strong oneshots are, without having to remove them.

That’s usually because if somebody can’t form constructive criticism against my arguments, not only do I disregard it, but I take that as evidence of a lack of obvious flaws.

Well, how about I just go with the specifics I had in mind:
Everybody can Rez
- Teammates that lose their HP, are considered “Downed”, instead of killed.
- Downed players have 250hp (Red Health)
- Downed players cannot move
- Downed players cannot receive additional damage from headshots
- Downed players become Killed, if not Revived within 10 seconds.
Downed players do not block enemy attacks (I.e. Bullets pass through them)- Rez has a 1m range
- 3.5sec cast time
- 100% movement penalty
- Rezzed players come back with half HP, but their gun is reloaded, and maybe 0.5sec damage invuln.
- Extra: Melee does 100 damage to Downed players
Then just nerf overall Sustain until you reach desirable teamfight durations.
I think essentially in apex when you’re downed you have some time where you can move around crawling slowly but cannot actively contribute to the fight any more. Allies can come near you and spend a decent amount of time interacting with your character to pick them back up for the fight, similar to mercy rez.
Grey’s suggestion to my understanding essentially let everyone do that but cut out the crawling bit, and in exchange adjust overall HPS to take into account that everyone has the ability to pick up or “rez” their teammates.

I wouldn’t be opposed to trying something like that, but I still think a global reduction in damage (especially high burst) would work just as well and will probably still be needed with a downed mechanic.
The main problem I see with this is that overwatch is very fast paced and the majority of heroes can two shot enemies, so having a person downed with no movement and another one unable to move for 3 seconds will just result in two deaths instead of just one and even if you successfully Rez Respawning with half health will just result in being one shot.
Your making a mountain out of a molehill. Just reduce burst dmg globally
I mean, I’ll take whatever works.
But the alternatives are basically
- Snipers don’t have instant kills, convert to Damage-over-Time
- Snipers are ridiculously fragile, and easy to kill
- Snipers can’t snipe accurately when taking damage or moving.
- This Rez thing.
And the Rez thing also has the benefit of lowering the need for heals.
I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea necessarily. I think having movement when downed would be needed, and Mercy’s rez would likely need buffs or changed completely. But that would allow several heroes to maintain their identity and core gameplay loops (snipers for the most part) while addressing frustration points players have against said burst damage.
Either way, I’m not opposed to them making major adjustments to HPS and overall DPS so we can move away from mechanics like ana’s antinade being the focal point for a lot of balance.
A lot of people talk about a global dmg and healing reduction.
Theres no alternatives to solve a problem that doesn’t exist.
Complainers are going to complain, that will never stop happening no matter the state of the game and the fact is :
If you complain about one shots on an FPS, that does have respawn every 10 sec, its a “you” issue or you picked the wrong game.
This game is not about “not dying” or about who kills the enemy team the most, its about completing map objectives and one shots are part of it. Just like mobility skills allow people to get in an out faster of team fights and no one is complaining about them.
TLDR: Skill issue.
PS: DPS should be the role with regen as a passive, Support should have movement speed as a passive (when out of combat or not healing/shooting themselves)
I strongly support scope kick for Widow and Ashe when taking any damage, making cover fire a real thing.
Please give up on this. If we wanted this we’d go play Apex.

Also if universal Rezzes are part of Apex, Finals, PubG, Fortnite. Where do you think Overwatch is going to be pulling in additional recruits from?
