Genji's deflect lasts too long IMHO

I think it should be reserved to be more of a “skill shot” in a sense that you have to time it right to deflect a shot, ability or ultimate. With it lasting 2 seconds it’s very easy for Genjis to just use it as a type of shield to close in the distance with their faster running speed and get directly above people for shuriken dash combos.

I realize that you can learn the timing of when it ends assuming the Genji doesn’t end it before it would end naturally by using swift strike or wall climbing, but knowing the exact timing of something seems to be what should be required for using Deflect, not the person fighting against it.

I just don’t think it makes sense. Compare it to an Ana that might be dueling a Genji. Not only can Genji deflect both of her abilities but Ana only gets 1 “shot” at using them, they aren’t forgiving if you don’t land them. Genji on the other hand can mess up Deflect and still use it to his advantage

Genji is already in a bad spot with all the changes and additions to/of other character over the past few years. He basically requires a pocket ana or mercy these days to be played so leave him alone.

What? All you need to do is farm blade and go in with nano blade.

it’s almost like he requires an Ana in that situation

I don’t have an strong opinion on whether it’s op/up or whatever balance wise but I do think the animation is a bit misleading when you can see genji putting his blades fully back in the sheathes but he can still deflect. Makes it hard to perfectly time a shot before he rmb+dashes you to finish you off, but it’s something i’ve had to get used to.
I don’t think he needs a nerf though.

There is a difference between pocketing and comboing. How often do you see Pharah without a Mercy? Pharah doesn’t function without Mercy in most cases. Genji still can.

his reflect isn’t long enough to save him from reaper, soldier, roadhog, pharah, bastion, or even baptiste and to use it effectively you have to know when during many situations to employ why shouldn’t it require the same skill to avoid it when the literal counter for it is “Stop shooting yourself”?

His deflect is not a “skill shot” ability. It’s a defensive ability.

If it was purely a defensive ability it wouldn’t return fire.

I guess you decided not to read the OP.

I never said it was a defensive ability. Did you even read?

It can be used offensively, but that doesn’t change its nature. If it was shorter, it wouldn’t function defensively.

Genji does not need any nerfs IMO.

Genji, even with two seconds, still has to properly time deflect. Two seconds is not overly forgiving.

All good dude. Mistakes happen.

Nah, deflect has its purposes in its current iteration, and a purpose that no other can provide. Technically, hes the best counter against suppressive fire in chokes. I’ve had too many moments in Mystery Heroes on defense where a lethal combination gets upturned by their sheer recklessness. That being said, the skill aspect of it exists perfectly as is. If it lasted any shorter than now, it would be almost useless outside of limited scenarios, and would also make him less fun. Let the cyber-jedi be.

I figured I was just letting you know
