Genji's deflect box is huge

see? learn from this fellow. idk why people post stuff like this, advocate for more genji nerfs and saying stuff like “HES BROKEN HES BROKEN.” when you can clearly see that was a good move by the genji. in most cases, im surprised that work. that usually gets me stunned, even if im directly at the mccree’s face. deflect is often buggy than it is helpful at times i swear.

It disappears for one frame, just because the game has latency and needs to change the direction the projectile goes after it is being deflected.

Ah, it’s barely noticeable and can be explained quite easily lol.

Indeed

This isn’t due to latency, it’s because it needs to be reprojected out from genji based on the direction he’s facing.

never thought i would hear complaints about current deflect size being too big lmao

I was a huge advocate for Genji’s original Deflect nerf.

However, after watching the video, you clearly hit the very edge of the animation.

Not only that but you did not bait his deflect before attempting to flashbang.

It was perfectly fair.

I don’t think he did… the animation it hits is the thing it does when it deflects something, but it doesn’t actually hit the animation indicator of deflect being up :man_shrugging:t2:

So you see what they’re talking about?

I mean, not really unless you go frame by frame apparently. Doesn’t even matter since it can be explained rather easily.

They did say slow it down… :woman_shrugging:t6:

I slowed it down even further. It does hit the very corner of the animation. At faster speeds it does not look like it because he(Genji) is drifting to the right and away from it.

Genji also was mid air during the flashbang throw and his deflect hitbox fell in into the projectile.

I looked at it frame by frame and the only thing I see it hitting is the “swish” that plays when he hits something

Shame there’s not some sort of debug mode where the animations are all overlaid with the hit/hurtboxes of everything.

I am right there with you, many times where I believe I am out Flashbang AoE range, and still get hit.

Shrinking his Flashbang hitbox can open more room to buff him in the future.

Because at the same moment the flash hit the floor it also crossed the hitbox of deflect. Which caused deflect to take priority.

I slowed it down to .25x and I didn’t notice anything

Deflect takes priority over something striking something else?

I guess what I’m saying is that the animation doesn’t match up to where deflect reaches  fb appears to pass to the standard deflect is happening animation, but is deflected and the deflecting projective animation is played which does reach.

My best guess. As deflect likely has favor the shooter elements that would check if the client registers a projectile in deflects hitbox.

But it does. I think what is confusing you is that his animation never lights EVERY part of the hitbox at all times.

Look at this screenshot just a few frames later.
Look how close the throw was to that animation despite genji having already drifted even further away since the deflect registered.

It’s a bit weird, Genji doesn’t get the “Favor the shooter” check, it is more based on ping if anything, a lot of people asked for it to be something that is affected by favor the shooter, because it is an inconsistent mess right now.
I may be wrong here though, but this is the info I remember.

you made an entire thread dedicated to expressing dissatisfaction of something, that is literally what complaining is

can’t argue with a brick wall
