It’s time to make Genji’s Deflect block more physical attacks, especially those of Brigitte …
In the skill it is written:
Deflect
“Deflect projectiles […] and avoids melee attacks” (or physical attacks), I do not know exactly how it is written in English, I translated the skill description from Portuguese.
Anyway, it’s not a buff, it’s just a “fix” for skill to work as it should.

Should it deflect rein’s hammer then too?
sit back and enjoy this one lol
It parries it, what OP suggests is that it should parry all melee attacks, including stuff like Brigitte’s Flail, Rein’s Hammer etc (I can’t really name any more)
The fact that it can block melee is bs imo

Try punching a man rapidly swinging a katana/wakizashi, be glad your arm is still intact.
Try blocking a rocket powered hammer bigger than your entire body with a katana

Cybernetic strength I guess. I mean it can also block an enemy dragonblade, which lore-wise is a weapon of great power.
Plus reinhardt is in his early 60s, he is not nearly as strong as he used to be, in his prime he could one shot bastion units with it…
I think deflect shouldn’t block massive rein hammer and it shouldn’t block explosive attacks like helix rocket or pharah rockets/barrage or Junk’s landmine or bastion tank shells, they should detonate from being smashed with a katana flinging around at faster than the speed of sound
Brigitte’s Shield Bash goes through deflect because of the stun it has attached.
Charge goes through deflect because of the stun it has attached.
Rocket Punch goes through because of the stun it has attached
Uppercut goes through because its hitbox comes from underneath the hero, where deflect doesn’t reach. It’s also an AoE.
Piledriver goes through because it’s an AOE and because the hitbox comes from underneath
I want to say Graple on Wrecking Ball and D.Va’s thrusters both go through, but I don’t remember. However, the general rule of thumb is “if the attacker puts their full weight into the physical attack, it goes through deflect.” Keep in mind, a lot of these abilities are designed to go through deflect. They are the exception, not the rule.

Rein’s hammer is the off one- maybe because if he can block his own dragonblade (which can effortlessly slice cars in half) he can block a rocket hammer.
Explosive attacks for sake of game balance, are considered projectiles, the splash is not deflected but the physical projectile is.
Why doesn’t dragonblade OHKO everyone then?
There’s literally no reason for Genji to be able to block a rocket powered hammer.
Game balancing reasons I suppose, if it one shot everyone there would be no counterplay to it.
Genji can parry melee attacks, which things like Dragonblade, standard melee, Rocket Hammer, Rocket Flail and such go under that category.
Idk honestly, some things aren’t made to logically make sense in this game, but work in terms of balance. For example: Junkrat can’t take damage from his own explosives, while Pharah can.
Another example being Reinhardt’s strength if he was in his Crusader-Era. If a Crusader Reinhardt fought a bastion in-game, he would one shot it if we go by lore-logic.
You can block a giant hammer with a smaller sword, for the same reason levers work.
This is actually a decent video that explains it https://youtu.be/kj0NytW5Zbw?t=317
Basically, you can stop the hammer from moving by making a fulcrum closer to the hands of the weilder (with a small sword, perhaps), increasing the amount of force needed to swing it to the point where no on can. Animation and range aside, this is how Genji can block a large hammer.

This nonsense again.
Try deflecting the bullets from 6 miniguns fired at you back with the same force and accuracy they come at you. With a dagger.
The sword would melt in the air because you’d need to swing it so fast.
I don’t know it seems pretty illogical and hazardous to your health to punch some dude through a sword he’s swinging around so fast you cant even see it.
The ability is already pretty terrible in the current meta, it may not quite need a buff but it doesn’t need to be made worse.
