Hi, I am a 40 or 60h Genji’s player.
I need help with dash, I don’t Main him. I like him a lot. I am pretty good with wall climbing.
I don’t use that much doble jump over enemy and that along with dash’s distance … well For me that is the difference between a good Genji and a bad one.
Is there any workshop for dash? I looked for it and just found normal ones.
I really want to master the dash, I just abuse my mechanics and game sense. But when I see a lower rank Genji or middle rank, I feel they have bettter combos and use of doble jumps. They get in and make you dizzy while doing the job. I play pretty safe and just get in when I have deflect or something is at dash’s range/dmg. They have something I need and I control something they should have. I am pretty bad at Genji 1vs1, recently I am winning it. I heard someone in forums who suggested me to use all my cds first and it is working.
Can you name the differences between a plat Genji from a diamond one and a master one too. I see a lot of top 500 players using Genji and their control over dash is insane. I am sure a Genji with that control over dash will destroy even a diamond team and make you worry more about your distance from him.

I’m giving you a bump, I’m curious 2 as I also want to start playing Genji.
Interesting and constructive questions like this always get ignored on forums for some reason…
I’m personally still stuck at practicing right click + melee + dash combos.
Yeah lol. Unless I make a topic nerf Widow or doomfist.

I play quite a lot of Genji (800h in total), and ended in T500 EU S17.
One of the best tips I can give you related to his dash, is be patient and use it to finish off kills or get out of uncomfortable situations. Finetune your sensitivity so you’re able to turn around quickly, but not be inaccurate with your shurikens as well, as precision is key with the dashes. I wouldn’t bother practicing Ghost Dash for anything other than warming up, as it’s a useless mechanic in game, and i personally prefer to be precise other than wasting a dash.
It’s difficult to explain advanced mechanics in a forum post, and I would recommend watching some tips on YouTube or get in touch 1 on 1 with a Genji player or coach.

Yeah you’re right. Although Genji is really bad right now, i see a lot of players use their dash just to get to their target and eventually die. its kinda like Doomfist, save a mobile ability to escape but in this case Genji only has one.
Also, another tip i can give you is to review your games, and see what you could’ve done with dash or you shouldn’t have wasted dash at that specific time.
It really helps, trust me.
500 hours genji main here
First of all you need to know that in the current status of the game genji is a bad pick and you shouldn main him right now but here are the best tips i can tell you
Dont jump every second, you are more predictible.
Dont go for ghost dashes even if u see the pros doing them, they are pretty useless in my opinion and who does then does them to show off,try to think every move, dont get in without a plan, plan every move and posibility.
Know when to switch,if enemy runs Moira brig, winston zarya sym mccree dont play genji, play something else and when u think you are fine agaist their comp switch to him.
Play on the side, even tho genji looks like a flank hero he is not,you should play him on the side,if you play on holywood, second point if you team pushes with payload in middle you should climb on top right and make ult charge from there. You are very vulnerable if u go behind and dash has a really limited distance.
Try to learn from your mistakes,if u use ult and u get solo ulted by a zarya next time when u ult deflect her grav, learn from mistakes and try to learn from them.
Just dont get into bad habits and keep clean plays, dont play too risky, dont be toxic, combo with teammates and you should be fine.
Good luck

Don’t use dash to engage unless you’re certain you will confirm a kill.

Don’t do rightclick+dash as a combo. Do dash+rightclick instead. If you land all 3 stars on a target you’ll pretty much shred a 200 HP target. You see good genjis like water and haksal do that

Dash is a beautiful disengaging tool. Don’t abuse it and remember if you’re left without deflect your dash is most likely your only saving grace.
Oh and remember, your dash resets even if you aren’t the one who gets the final blow. If your team is about to kill a target and you did damage to them don’t be afraid to get aggressive with it as you’ll get your reset.

Primarily for practicing blades, but drop the enemy Ana bots to low health and you can just practice dash. Try to gauge the distance so you land right next to/inside them without needing to turn more than 90 degrees to land your next hit.
No pro does ghost dashes, it is really useless and 9 times out of 10 will get you killed if you’re in a closed area.
i just ghostdash when i see a low health enemy , at my blades i dont ghost dash unless its quick play xD
