Genji nerf Was fine and maybe not needed

Honestly though, there have been no changes to the hitbox (at least not mentioned in any patch)

mercy was by far the most played hero in this game. And it took them around 6 months to fix her. How many people like a hero or play a hero doesn’t matter. They can fail MASSIVELY regardless. I’m just gonna wait and see what happens.

Can I get a link to his post so I can put together something to reassure Genji mains since there is basically no way we are stopping Jeff from putting it on PTR? Just want to calm fellow genji mains down that genji wont get hurt too bad.

That’s the issue that some people have, we can’t even tell what the actual size of Genji’s hit-box is, and it’s so inconsistent in general game-play that it’s an issue.

It’s like making tracers chrono-accelerator take 1.5x more damage, makes sense lore wise and could be in game, but would screw up the character too much to use.

I would be ok with a smaller deflect hitbox if the animation for deflect actually matched the time you were deflecting, it always ends some-time before the sound and animation do. if they made those shorter or the deflect like .6 seconds longer it would be great. genji is a jedi

I meant posts like where Jeff said Genji was balanced, Deflect needs a large hitbox to operate etc. Just need to make something so I can help Genji mains know that Genji is in good hands because Jeff already sees that Genji doesn’t need to be sledgehammer nerfed.

Hmmm I wonder now though, maybe just have VFX to where it shows genji deflecting but has a very very faint but visible green blinking outline just so people can see where it is if for just a second…

Too big, too obvious, maybe it should be visible but people would have to catch the blinking faint green outline, Jeff thinks it needs to have a buffer so make it pixel perfect yet deceptive at the same time…

The hitboxes are a fix not a nerf.

Deal with it, about dang time the hitbox actually matched Genji’s deflect.

The size is pretty reasonable. Deflect covers area where Genji’s arms can reach but not further than that.

There’s no frontal cone and Genji’s side is hardly protected.

Many say that Genji’s deflect is as big as Reinhardt’s shield. For comparison this is Reinhardt with his shield standing at the same spot.

Who knows, maybe Jeff just said it to get the haters off of his back so he could blow off steam and focus on bigger projects in Overwatch more.

Jeff didn’t even clarify if the hitbox was getting smaller or the VFX were getting bigger. Let’s not jump the gun with assumptions just yet.

Deflecting through walls was a thing some time ago but was quickly patched after those videos attracted dev attention. Current deflect isn’t broken per se, it’s this way by design according to the devs, but it’s interesting that they are now giving in and tweaking it.

I’ve killed teammates by shooting Genji in the BACK while he was deflecting and saw the rounds literally teleport to the front of his blade and fire out deflected.

Changes like this are always a year too slow.
