Genji IS Yoshimitsu

Prove me wrong. No seriously. Prove me wrong.

The Similarities?

  • Both uses swords.
  • Both are Japanese.
  • Both have “charged” swords.
  • Both are skilled in the art of ninjitsu.
  • Both are cybernetic in some way.
  • Both have oni skins or themes.
  • Both have the whole “green thing” going on.
  • Both have nearly-infinite skill ceilings.
  • Both make people think they lack skill.
  • Both are icons to their franchise.
  • Both get viewed as having players who are “weebs”.
  • Both will destroy you in extremely unusual ways.
  • Both can be extremely annoying to defend against.
  • Both have meditation forms.
  • Both are extremely philosophical.
  • Both find amusement in the enemy’s ruin.

Alas Genji does not have a Seppuku attack.

I have no idea who that is but this looks like a classic Texas sharpshooter falacy.

Hmm… Very true. If he did though, that would pretty much set it in stone. Actually… Actually, hold tf up. That and the classic helicopter attack is all that Genji is missing. Genji even has the lightning fast dashing attack (Swift Strike). Genji really could possibly be Yoshimitsu.

Yoshi looks different in every game. Also Genji doesn’t have selfharm abilities

I disagree with some of the points you listed, particularly the one above. While it’s true about Yoshimitsu, I can’t see how being sliced through with a katana is unusual… or killed by a bunch of shurikens… or being dashed through with a knife… There’s nothing really unusual about the way Genji destroys oponents, let alone “extremely unusual”.

Oh… I could argue that point all day. Trust me, a good Genji can dismantle you in all sorts of creative ways. With just “a knife”, katana, and set of shurikens. Lol. That’s part of learning Genji’s kit. How to eliminate your target in a variety of different ways. I mean, I personally can snap an Ana up in about 20 different flavors. My favorite being making them sleep themselves, before the goodness is delivered to them.

Yoshimitsu>>>>>>Genji

No Helicopter Blade,
No Pogo Stick Sword
No Teleporting
No Seppuku
No “Namu” voiceline
Not in Two different Fighting Games
No Soul Stealing
No Clapping with his Feet Emote
No Spinning Flag
Doesn’t say his own name whilst fighting

Genji’s completely utterly inferior to Yoshimitsu

Genji has far more annoying gameplay.

Yoshimitsu has a far more annoying personality, and is also more traditionalist.

You can argue all you want, but what you’re describing isn’t unusual. His toolkit is pretty standard for a ninja character - no matter what you do, you will either kill your target with a slice with your blades or a shuriken.

Yoshimitsu taunts his opponents by sitting down meditating in the middle of a fight while also levitating doing so, pogohopping on his katana and performing seppuku to injure his oponent, or flying around SPINNING his katana around like a helicopter, to name a few - now THAT is what I would call unusual.

…also, Genji can’t juggle you for multihit combos that almost kill you in the first first round.

Genji is more Raiden (MGS) than Yoshimistu…

You mean Jack? Hmmm… I could see that. The mecha wolf companion and all.

Genji is a poor mans yoshimitsu. You cant compare the helicopter seppuku legend to this idiotic cartoon ninja for kids.

Genji wishes he was half as cool as Yoshimitsu.

Also…

No poison breathe!
Not part of a cool clan.

You all bring very good points that I had overlooked (which disappoints me as I too am a Yoshi main). It’s especially disappointing that I forgot about the: Helicopter, seppuku, and pogo attacks. Ugh… Serves me right for focusing on FighterZ and Smash Ultimate lately. ._.

Don’t be mad. Just remember you can now beat up Jiren, Merged Zamasu and Vegito Blue as Videl

I… I never thought of that. Broly as well.

Just ain’t true chief, I recall hearing this all the time “Think upon your actions”. Genji does not enjoy battle, he is not bloodlusted or sadistic
