I agree he needed buffs. But I feel like what he received was complete overkill.
His niche was that he had a great ult, but his normal kit wasn’t all so good. Now his normal kit is completely overtuned, and his ult is just as powerful. There’s no bad part about him. And to top it off, he can build dragonblade so much faster now.
In countless games today, I’ve died to genji and thought to myself "wow, that was a nice combo. Then I would watch the killcam, and it was literally brainless. He was spamming right click from midrange, dashed, and somehow managed to kill. Emphasis on midrange. Genji should not be able to do that to a pharah.
the buff wasn’t just to get genji out of his bad stage and into neutral, they wanted genji to downright be a strong hero pick to fit into the meta thats being played
dive counters double shield
buffing dive heroes = double shield gets countered without having to further nerf orisa rein or sigma
please, you’ve played Ashe mostly ashe this season and you’ve yet to make a thread about her complaining. her and and her cowboy pal both kill you faster and better than Genji today, tomorrow and next week. along with widow, buffed hanzo, and tracer.
And how common is that? Yes with the new spread its easier to achieve that with close range but its almost the same time as a hitscan TTK Such as widow ashe or Mccree but with more consistency.
I’ve played ashe 38 minutes this season. This account is level 56. It’s not my main.
The difference is genji has a lot more mobility, and those heroes don’t. I do feel like ashe needs a nerf. But again, this isn’t a topic about them. I’m talking about genji.
Then make it one. If other heroes deserve to be considered “powerful” (though I predict this patch won’t even budge Genji’s stats) then Genji does too.
People have always said that everyone needs to be nerfed for Genji to be good to avoid powercreep, and if they don’t do that then I don’t mind this alternative.
Or should we just roll back the changes and wait for his meta? When they run Echo Tracer instead of Genj.
The fact that there is very little anyone can do about it once he gets that close. With McCree or Ashe you generally just have to outplay them from range, which is doable. Once Genji gets within melee range he literally just has to right click bodyshot you twice then mash Shift to win the fight. There is no effort involved here. To two tap someone with McCree or Ashe you need at least one headshot. Genji does not need that.
