Genji is still a blade bot and weak in the wrong area now

I think everyone was in agreement that the damage, spread and deflect buff all in one made Genji way too strong and pushed him over the edge.

When the latest patch from today went on Experimental, I think most people were in agreement he needed the damage nerf and perhaps something else, but definitely the speed of the recovery made the character feel clunky, weak etc.

Outside of this making him bad for the wrong reasons, this definitely made the character very unfun. I don’t find two tapping people fun, but I definitely don’t find waiting .75 of a second to right click again when i’m supposed to be pressuring an enemy, it feels very sluggish, and makes the gameplay feel very tedious and vulnerable when you are even on the front foot.

Please re-evaluate the recovery change to either turn it back or at the least, faster than it is. If your goal was to make the character harder like he used to be, there are many other ways to achieve this that don’t hurt the flow of the character for the player.

Also: inb4 every salty player who hates Genji and struggles in the 1v1 jumps in and calls me entitled, complains about their own character, ignores my point just to talk waffle. This is more about the fun factor over strength for me, I couldnt care less if he was bottom tier but the right click atm is really making him unfun and boring for me.

EDIT: I would much prefer the ult charge time went up significantly and the recovery stayed as it was

Yeah I’ve played him a ton on experimental. He feels pretty bad. The .65 to .75 makes a pretty big difference. They should have either reverted damage only, or kept the damage and recovery at .65 but put his spread back to 12. He struggles with damage-- sad to see. You’re better off using Doom again for burst reliability.

Agreed 100%. I legit can’t play the hero right now.

Dunno why they take out the aspects that just buff his potential output, but keep the stuff that makes him easier and less punishing to play. Of all the changes to keep why the spread and deflect? Just makes him easier to use and harder to punish. But his actual potential output went down. And his practical output probably stayed even or got a bit better, but in a way that feels terrible to play and lowers his skill ceiling. Ah who am I kidding why would I expect a reason for OW balancing decisions.

Really another post about this?

No hes not, his damage was reverted to WHAT IT WAS, and his secondary fire was REVERTED TO WHAT IT WAS, anyone who complains now, only played Genji after the buff to play a broken char to attempt to climb.

Same comment, 3 threads now.

Played him since the game started, was in GM by season 4 and stayed there for a very long time, this character FEELS and PLAYS clunky as hell and is in an awkward middle ground right now. Please do not speak as if you know me when you know nothing at all about me just to disregard an opinion

So what you are saying is that even after that many hours on Genji, the slightly reverted damage and recovery time broke him? Even while you claim to have been GM since season 4 while playing him BOFORE these buffs? If GM is this whiny, I dont want my alt to climb anymore and just play in Masters.

It doesn’t matter whether he played the old Genji or not. The old Genji was still garbage and considered to be a throw pick for the past 2-3 years.

You act like half of the roster (if not more) is a throw pick in gm.

You’re stupid, read what I wrote monkey. I don’t have an issue with the damage nerf, something had to go, but the recovery nerf is clunky and really makes the character weak in the wrong areas and playing him has gotten very boring in this state. I’m fine with the nerfs as long as the character remains fun.

His buffed kit was overtuned.

It was impossible to duel him as soldier, for example, because he could two tap so quickly.

Even if they reverted ult charge, Genji would be like a weeb Doomfist.

Haven’t played experimental and honestly don’t really care…

I think the better way to go is reduce damage and revert alt fire spread.

The alt fire rate was buffed seperate of this four buff thing It was done a few months ago. And after he received the alt rate fire buff he still wasn’t op or something.

Then he got way overbuffed, and when they nerf him back they take out stuff that wasn’t problematic with the kit so that they can retain changes that suck. In this case the easy aim spread buff, and the deflect changes that make duels unfair in Genji’s favor.

It’s a classic Blizzard balancing situation. Way overbuff a character in a way that guaranteed they will be nerfed down the line. Then keep some crappy aspect of the buffed kit and nerf some decent and liked aspect of the hero to justify keeping those dumb changes. It’s happened so many times now lol.
