Genji Deflect bug

Deflect Bug: when Genji perfectly times a deflect against hitscan or some projectile heroes, the deflect animation plays, and the bullet appears to be deflected but still damages Genji. This bug is probably exclusive to Overwatch 2

Overwatch favours the shooter, so if the enemy hits you in their screen, then it is a hit. I think this is in OW since forever.

That just sounds like a client misprediction. The enemy probably shot and killed you before the server acknowledged you used deflect. To make things feel responsive, the game predicts actions on your client before the server acknowledges it happens, and in some cases it predicts wrong and the server eventually told your client that you actually died instead.

i would agree with you, however in several cases the bullet was actually deflected, as in it dealt damage.
meaning if i deflected an ana shot perfectly, it would damage both me and the ana if i aimed it at her, weirdly enough this does not happen with projectiles but only hitscan, i think the only projectile that ever acted this way was reins firestrike, however i think thats because firestrike pierces people so i dont think thats a bug, but the hitscan part is!

I’ve noticed if I shoot just barely from the side, it goes through more now. When before it would deflect more in a cube, but now it seems almost a thick vertical line.

Gotcha. Yeah that does sound like a bug if it’s damaging both players.

Yeah it’s been a thing since overwatch 1 but it was worse back then because projectiles also did the same, now it’s just hitscan
