some sombra was hard focusing me while I was chilling in quick play and tried to hack me, so I shoot her, shoot her twice more
she then starts hack right after
my character has his hands frozen so I am spamming my fire but am not able to cancel hack due to the hack time being 0.65
and genji’s fire rate being 0.75
why???
Were you using your primary or secondary fire?
In my experience you’ll stop a Sombra as Genji more often if you’re using Secondary because the Primary is pinpoint accuracy
If you’re asking for a Genji’s buff I don’t think you should use Sombra as the reason why he should get changes. I do think that he needs 30 damage shurikens or the faster fire rate but Sombra is kinda bad right now.
cause she has a cooldown if her hack line is broken
and thats pretty much the only thing she is good for since her viable damage range is shorter than reapers
Mmm, IDK I call shenanigans. I’ve played a decent amount of Sombra and I’ve never noticed that my hack punishment for being cancelled doesn’t work on Genji.
If you get interrupted hacking, you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can try it again. I mean it is short; maybe you just didn’t notice that that much time had passed in game, and it felt like she was able to instantly hack you again? Because that sounds like either a glitch or your imagination, to me.
secondary, primary fire is even slower and it was a close range fight
it was mostly lucky timing on the sombra starting hack right after my second shot but it was very irritating

shoot some primary fires and they get healed by an ana and because sombra’s damage is so low I decide to continue pressuring her out
as her hack comes back I shoot a shiruken and she immediately starts the hack but since the recovery time is slower then
this is the exact reason why i save up dash against sombras to either be up in her face to counteract her annoying hacks or disengage. or i just end up switching if shes being smart about it against me

Fair enough. In their defense when they released Sombra’s hero card with her release they did put him under what Sombra is strong against. Lucio & Reinhardt are also there.
I must say it makes sense, any hero Symmetra’s turrets are strong against will also be weak to hack because of the same reason. Is it annoying and frustrating? Yes.
But is it fair? Also yes. Tons of other heroes can counter Sombra super well, either don’t rely on your abilities (for example Hanzo and Soldier:76), place them before doing anything (like Junkrat & Winston) or just have a consistent weapon that works well for the situation (like Moira’s beam or Zarya’s primary).
so while it is frustrating I think Sombra deserves that.
Torb can literally stop any attempt at Sombraing by just putting a turret in the backline.
If I understand correctly, the thread isn’t suggesting that the Sombra’s hack was ever interrupted (or should have been). They’re saying that the Sombra timed the hack well—between Genji shots, outside melee range, while Swift Strike was on cooldown—and was rewarded for it.

Ah, my interpretation was that they thought Sombra’s hack started instantly again with no delay even though they had hit her. Because she got that nerf a while ago that if you interrupt hack, it takes like .65 seconds before you can try and hack again.
But anything that inconveniences Genji players is to be gutted or nerfworked!!! Thats the law!!!

Cree is a neutral match-up and Lucio DID get nerfed, in case you missed it.

Mei: nerfed.
Sym: nerfworked into a free kill vs Genji.
Moira: nerfed.
DF: nerfed.
Sombra: nerfworked.
Brig: absolutely clobbered by nerfs.
Sigma: has been nerfed and genji mains want accresion to be deflectable.
Cree has the advantage and the last time Lucio got nerfed was goats.
Was objectively op and never countered him and most Genji players are asking for her to get buffed.
Her rework wasn’t a nerf or a buff, she got nerfed in 2x shield cause she melted everything. And I was against her rework as well.
Doom fist got nerfed because the forums whined about him when in reality sigma was the issue.
That rework was a huge buff, she got nerfed because she had like an 89% pick rate in OWL(which is why I want stealth to be reverted so she can get buffed.)

Genji can deflect fire, ice, and a black hole. But he can’t deflect a stupid rock. This would be a buff to dm and grasp as well.

you interrupted the first hack and put it on a 2 second cooldown
in this time you can get 2 shots off, sombra’s hack cooldown will disappear 2/3rds of the way to the next shot, assuming she starts instantly you will cancel it again,
additionally a sombra is highlu unlikely to be able to perfectly time it to start her hack in that .1 second window of time due to lag and reflexs lag makes the window shorter and reflexs are doubtful to be on that level, your post doesnt make much sense
just dash her if she somehow manages to start the hack perfectly in that .1 second window itll cancel it again and she’ll take more damage, she should be dead soon or at this point
This sounds like sombra was smart and she waited for you to shoot to hack after that and you can’t really avoid that unless you dash to her/away or melee her
