Q0FWJ4 look at the 4:39 mark at the encounter between genji and ana. this is a bronze level comp match.
it’s something that i have seen over and over…where going up against a genji…or even a d’va…youll be fighting them, their block is available…but at the very split second Ana attempts to sleep dart them, their deflect ability gets triggered.
ive seen this instance in the past with genji, but have also seen it with d’va…in the past, i was running up on a fight with the enemy teams d’va, she was facing not toward me but if i was looking at her, she was facing to my right, but up the steps…she was fighting someone else. As I approached the steps…i activated sleep dart, and at the very split second i did, the d’va turns toward me and defense matrix comes out, blocks the sleep dart, and then she turns and continues fighting whoever she was originally.
In this video, youll see that ana is standing back a bit and shooting into the melee, then genji comes toward her…ana shoots once…genji doesnt block (his block is available, you can look on his hud), then she starts to draw the sleep dart gun out of her holster and just before she shoots, genji’s deflect activates.
at .25x speed, it’s easy to see, but at 1.0x speed, it would have to either be just sheer luck, or an auto block script that prevents genji from being slept. one would say this is sheer luck, but the problem is, that i have seen this very same thing happen over and over…
just wanted to see what you all thought.

yeah this is a known thing, it can be done with rein auto shielding certain abilities and ana auto sleeping ultimates/blades as well. There’s loads of unique scripts for different heroes, and more being developed all the time

That one specifically just looks normal/like luck. Sleep has like a 0.3s cast time and depending on the genji’s distance from ana (because of sleep darts travel speed) and ping you can be quick enough to block ana’s sleep purely off of reacting to her animation.
Looking at the rest of his gameplay he just spams reflect when: He’s in front of a turret bastion, when he’s low on hp, or basically about 1-1.5s after he starts fighting an ana at close range. He block another sleep by reflecting way before ana starts using sleep later on in the replay. And a few other fights all he manages to block is a few random ana shots.
could be, again, sheer luck is possible, but at normal speed, in the middle of all the action, the animation for the sleep dart is just a split second. to be able to actually see it happen…youd have to have some kind of eagle eyes and really really good perception to be able to actually SEE the sleep dart animation and react to it in the split second that it takes to happen…but, im not saying it’s not possible.
what makes me suspicious is that ive seen this kind of thing happen several times, mostly from genjis.
the only player I’ve heard of to be at this level of consistently minmaxing the potential of deflect is water, the genji otp on asia server… I’d bet on it not being legit
Probably just luck or baiting out dart. If he doesn’t use reflect after the first shot or 2. Most will assume reflect is on CD. Hell, there was one match I had as Ramattra where I put up a shield just before Ana and Orisa hit me with a dart or Javelin. I counted 8 times in a row against Orisa. Idk about Ana though.
