As a dedicated Genji main Im willing to push Genji further into the sweetspot where many of us Genji players thinks he blongs.
After testing the new updates for a while now, I can give my advice for the next update, which I think is needed to make this hero even more fun and balanced.
Ammo+6
I gave the ammo nerf a fair chance. Initially I thought it would increase the skill for high level players, while making it harder for low level spammers. However not only was I wrong on that. It turned out it also broke the gameflow of this hero. Let me explain.
Genji is partly a brawler. He needs to go into the open, into the enemy and needs to operate from there on. Once you are in there is no turning back. You need to go with the flow of the battle. Once you are dueling your initial target many if not most of the time a second enemy will appear to support the opponent and the battle extends. 30 shuriken were okay for that job. But 24 just kills the flow of the game. Its just not possible in many cases. It feels bitter if you won your duel but ran out of ammo and the enemy escapes.
Even in the 200 HP era 24 shuriken was considered low. Now with those HP buffs its way too low.
So, I would go back to 30. However Im also willing to see if 27 works, as well.
Shuriken damage+1 with falloff damage
This is the big one. I think falloff damage is the answer to the Genji problems. Thats how you bring him back to his old power level on long range, while weakening his poking style.
And I can tell you, that way he would feel more fun. That way it feels more rewarding to get into close range position. And cutting off his long range abilities is a nerf that I can totally live with.
For the start I would suggest the damage to look like this:
0 - 5 m: 30
5+ - 15 m: 27 (same old damage)
15+ m: 24
Sounds like a fair trade off for me, that shifts his powers, where it is needed.
