Genji: Ammo+6,Shuriken DMG+3, Falloff damage

As a dedicated Genji main Im willing to push Genji further into the sweetspot where many of us Genji players thinks he blongs.

After testing the new updates for a while now, I can give my advice for the next update, which I think is needed to make this hero even more fun and balanced.

Ammo+6

I gave the ammo nerf a fair chance. Initially I thought it would increase the skill for high level players, while making it harder for low level spammers. However not only was I wrong on that. It turned out it also broke the gameflow of this hero. Let me explain.

Genji is partly a brawler. He needs to go into the open, into the enemy and needs to operate from there on. Once you are in there is no turning back. You need to go with the flow of the battle. Once you are dueling your initial target many if not most of the time a second enemy will appear to support the opponent and the battle extends. 30 shuriken were okay for that job. But 24 just kills the flow of the game. Its just not possible in many cases. It feels bitter if you won your duel but ran out of ammo and the enemy escapes.

Even in the 200 HP era 24 shuriken was considered low. Now with those HP buffs its way too low.

So, I would go back to 30. However Im also willing to see if 27 works, as well.

Shuriken damage+1 with falloff damage

This is the big one. I think falloff damage is the answer to the Genji problems. Thats how you bring him back to his old power level on long range, while weakening his poking style.

And I can tell you, that way he would feel more fun. That way it feels more rewarding to get into close range position. And cutting off his long range abilities is a nerf that I can totally live with.

For the start I would suggest the damage to look like this:

0 - 5 m: 30
5+ - 15 m: 27 (same old damage)
15+ m: 24

Sounds like a fair trade off for me, that shifts his powers, where it is needed.

The only change Genji needs is a 25 hp nerf to bring his health in line with the other hyper-mobile dps.

Give his projectiles parabola trajectory, it’s not like he’s throwing shurikens as fast as bullets travel

Thats been debunked in the latest Genji threads. Long story short:

  • Its a rumor that mobile heroes should have low HP based on a vague statement of bliz
  • Genji is a brawler and therefor needs bonus HP compared to mid and long rangers
  • Big difference between mobility to get INTO battle and OUT OF battle. For example Genji goes IN and BRAWLS, while Sombra gets OUT and MID RANGES

He’s a brawler in the same way that Tracer, Lucio, and Moira are. He has wall climb, dash, and double-jump to help him get into and out of battle. He also has one of the strongest defensive abilities in the game and passively runs faster.

This is textbook Genji main cope.

Yea. the “pro genjis” who dash straight at me on Zen and eat a nice little 5 orb to the face. It wouldn’t matter if they had 3 ammo or 30. They’re just bad at the game so make forum threads whining for buffs that are not required.

First of all dont compare DPS to supports. That are different roles.

And second Tracer is not a brawler. She is a mid range flanker and operates from like 15m distance.

In this game there are just Fat DPS, Healing DPS and Just DPS

Why would you remove the defense of a defense ability?

Also how do you justify a brawler with 225, that takes high risk by going into close range, while range characters play with low risk from distance and have the same HP?

Are you just ignoring all of Genji’s mobility as a mental gymnastic tactics or are you just biased??

You have multiple ways to regen health now, frankly genji needs considerable nerfs. You’re a pseudo tank even in close range, he needs to take a hit to bring him in line with everyone else.

Your logic is flawed. Base Genji does not regen health. Perks do.

You dont nerf a chara bc for 10 or 20% of the game he can regen some HP. If anything the perks should be nerfed. However considering that 2 perks of him are useless, its more that his perks need to be buffed.

What are you on? Perks are part of a base kit, you’re acting like you have no access to them whatsoever.
