General Error 0xE00101C0 (help!)

As of a few days ago, I’ve been receiving error message 0xE00101C0 on my laptop (Intel Core i7, RTX 4050) and despite trying many different methods, I have not been able to even open the game at all. I’ve tried verifying game files, deleting the game and reinstalling, updating graphics drivers, reverting to older graphics drivers, enabling overwatch on firewall, disabling antivirus, running overwatch as administrator, contacting blizzard support, and even hard resetting the computer. Nothing that I have tried has worked, and now it just seems like I’m locked out of the game. Does anyone have a fix?

Well, good luck. I have had the same problem. After contacting direct Tech Support, I was told to come here. I did that, posted a similar post to yours, and have had nothing but…

…crickets. So I’m gonna follow yours to see if you have better luck than me.

This forum is supported by fellow players (mostly me), not staff.

Did you try the solutions from the first search result about this error?

  • Ending the Microsoft.Management.Service in Task Manager.
  • Deleting settings_v0 from C:\Users[your username]\Documents\Overwatch\Settings
  • Complete removal of obtrusive antivirus software (like AVG or Avast).

I tried these as well and unfortunately still nothing

Did you try a new admin account?
Review a DxDiag (after exporting)?
Have you reviewed your MSInfo for conflicts in the error reporting section (only visible after exporting the report)?

Tech support told me to post it here, because they’re useless. And NONE of the fixes I found in here fixed the problem.

It’s completely inappropriate to disparage the staff because you’re having a permission problem with Windows. That is not Blizzard’s fault. I recommend using the Microsoft forums to continue troubleshooting. Good luck with your issue.

If the staff had bothered to even try something, I wouldn’t have said what I said. But they didn’t. I am a network administrator with over 25 years of IT experience. So to assume I don’t know how to deal with permission problems within Windows is pretty judgemental. I suggest you use the “dealing with people” forums.

Hello, thanks for the reply
I tried these as well but its still displaying the error
I

I’m experiencing the same problem. Do we have a solution?

I discovered that if you delete your graphics driver the game launches without error

It’s also inappropriate to piss-off the customers to the forums when they try get help via customer support. They outsource their customer support and they have absolutely no idea what they’re doing. I get they’re human and need respect, but they should earn respect in the first place.

It’s also Blizzard’s decision to outsource customer support, who has not helped anyone I know so far. I feel sorry that you are the only one on these forums trying to help people as they get casually shrugged off from CS to come here about their problems.

When people get answers they don’t like about their suspensions and bans, they often forget their manners, lose control of their emotions, and then air their grievances on the public forum.

I don’t think that’s true. Instead, I believe they are following guidelines as to what depth they can go when offering technical support. Blizzard used to act as a PC and ISP help desk, which is too much responsibility for a game development studio. Nowadays, they provide support like their AAA title peers, offering documentation to help the player perform the troubleshooting. They no longer scour PC or connection logs, which helps them stay out of relationships that don’t concern them (like customer ↔ ISP).

I try to help those that I can, but posts are mostly about bans or connection problems these days. There is absolutely nothing I can do about a ban, and neither can anyone else reading this forum — even devs. That process is solely up to the customer support team.

As for connections, I’m someone who plays almost everyday in NA hasn’t run into a connection problem since a hurricane was sitting on my state. Sure, connection issues have popped up in other regions, but most of those were found to be outside Blizzard’s network/control.
