Gaming in a Windows 10 VM on Ubuntu - Anyone else?

With my current needs, I have no choice but to fire up a Windows 10 VM with virt-manager on an Ubuntu host.

My specs:
CPU: Threadripper 1950x (EPYC-IBPB processor under Virtmanager) - using 16 cores - stock clock (will adjust when more VMs are required)
RAM: 16GB (out of available 32GB)
GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 1080ti (passthrough)

I’m curious if anyone is doing this? How is your stability?

I’m asking as I constantly crash. Even when I had bare metal Windows installed, I still had stability issues.

Why go through all that?
Just use lutris to install overwatch wine/dxvk. I’ve been playing it like that this past week. I’m running on high settings on 1050ti at consistent 50-60 fps.
I use Manjaro KDE edition.

I use to do the pci-passthrough/iommu setups, it’s just a hasssle with nvidia and you have to rely on amd cards for it to work. Your crashing is most likely nvidia driver crashing since they added new bugs to detect hypervisors which causes segfaults and crashes even hardware lockups, under the guise of
“To stop companies using their consumer line cards in enterprise enviroments.”

I’ve had luck running kvm hypervisor on xeon e3-1230 with rx560 passthrough with windows 10 and running overwatch on ubuntu server 16.04 but this was about a year ago. I orignially had a gtx 670 in there but code 43 stopped me, and trying to hack the driver to remove the hypervisor detection resulted in stability issues. I’ve pretty much don’t do this anymore since steam play came out and lutris, I have no need for windows anymore.
