Game's just not good for solo queue ranked, sadly

Absolute trash experience playing ranked solo queue, it really, really is god-awful.

I queue as support, top healing, get important kills on enemy team that the DPS couldn’t even touch, etc.- still lose nearly 20 games in a row (no exaggeration). As someone who played OW1 at launch in 2016, I know for a fact that I’m not bronze. I am also not playing like a bronze. I was usually Gold - Plat.

It is just the nature of the game. You cannot go far in solo queue as support, otherwise you have to hard-carry as DPS (that barely works at times, though). Sometimes you get decent teammates, other times you get people who you even question if they’re sober. And I’m not trying to sound mean. I had a Rein who would just shift charge out of spawn to whack his hammer at people by himself and die repeatedly. I genuinely think the dude was just drinking late at night trying to relax (yet why queue ranked??) All 4 other players were telling him in chat to stop running in. Nope, kept going.

Another glaring issue I see on my team: Oh, the enemy Pharah has 30 elims, is doing 16k damage and BOTH DPS still refuse to switch to any hitscan heroes that can kill her?

I almost lost my mind the other day. Had a whole entire match with a Sombra and Reaper on my team… and a Pharah was on the enemy team completely dominating us. You couldn’t even leave spawn. It was on Eichenwalde attack-side. You take a few steps out of the spawn room and there Pharah is above you, reigning hell on the whole team while it’s only left up to me the Ana player to shoot her.

Even the other people on the team felt sorry for me and knew just how trash of an experience it was. Soldier, Ashe, Cassidy even Widow - NOPE, Sombra and Reaper.

I can go on all day how much of a clown-show ranked has been. But there is no point in individual ranks. It is a big reason this game isn’t as successful competitively as it should be. Not everyone wants to make a team on a sweaty discord.

Were you Ana/Baptise? Supports have pretty good answers to pharah, at least both are better than Cassidy and maybe post nerf soldier 76 against pharah.

Most people are just incapable of understanding the fundamentals of this game. They literally take a steamy dump on the modes and common goals the team would have. I rarely come across players who are actively trying to not only fulfill their role’s duty, but also focus the objective. Most players get completely carried away with getting kills as if it were a deathmatch. Which is absolutely pathetic, given there is a deathmatch for players that want that. Yet, they join lobbies where that is not always the goal, but play as if it is.

Countless times I have had to defend a zone on my own, because these clowns are pushing past it simply to kill one enemy player. Whereas if they’d have stayed to defend or attack, we would be progressing. Instead they get wiped by a D.Va ult and there I am alone against an entire team, something that could have turned out differently had they used their whatever they have in place of a brain.

games like these are unfortunately best enjoyed with premades and friends unfortunately. It’s just something I had to accept with games like the one you described playing solo.

had a game earlier where enemy widow was being completely ignored and wreaking havoc. I then got into ana and killed her 3x surprisingly - 3 taps per kill.

We can’t play our teammate’s characters for them. Only give tactful friendly advice and words of encouragement and hope they do the right thing

Solo queuing comp is indeed a nightmare, and if you’re like me and avoid meta in favor of more difficult characters because I find it more fun you’ll deal with non-stop complaining from your teammates.

I find people are communicating much less than they used to and the heals have been dreadful. Just an overall awful experience with no real payoff.

Omg right?! No one communicates anymore! But this is something I noticed in the past 5 years or so… I remember back in 2016 and before, it would almost be like an oddity if you queued ranked in a game and there were not people using mics.

Now, modern gaming seems so socially isolating. It is rare someone even has a mic in competitive mode, let alone uses the text chat. Just had two back to back comp matches and if I didn’t know any better I would have thought they were bots. ZERO text chat or mic use, no communication, literally none.

This is happening to all online games now, that social aspect is mostly gone.

I do not even join chat anymore because of how toxic this community has been. Not really worth the listen. I would rather pretend they are bots so I am not tempted to throw the game.

I exclusively solo queue, always have done, and am having a great time. And I am playing mostly Mercy. Try turning voice and text chat off if you haven’t and also not caring too much whether you win or lose.

The match maker in this game is very good (or it was in OW1 anyway) it puts you where you should be, if you improve you will climb.

It was in OW too, its not a new thing.

I like to have it on so i can tell that kaka window to change to a reaper since monke is always jumping on us

People start acting like butt to each others. Losing one game and suddently everyone is bad, people get mad etc.

You can find someone nice but the minute you lose he can transform in the worst monster.

I think that is a good reflection of our actual society in general.

As Ive been top level in Overwatch1 and now 2, Solo Que is a joke. I had one game where our entire team had 0 kills, and I believe group team dmg was equal or less to one of their supports. I have noticed time and time again the game gives you two crappy dps versus two great dps.

support are easiest to rank up in Overwatch 2

i was plat support on last day on Overwatch 1

get Diamond 4 in Season 1 overwatch 2, playing solo

get diamond 3 in season 2 also solo

season 3 i managed to get Master 4 playing Solo
