I can load the client and the start of the opening sequence until it gets to entering game where it just freezes.
Happened just after update.

having same issue it sounds like, battlenet opens and there was an update…after the update click play and went to black screen with a large “2” and a cancel button but then the PC froze and restarted. after restart open battlenet and able to play D3 no issue and other games have no issues like flight sim and grim dawn. go back to play ow2 and there is an update so did that and the same thing happened…“2” and cancel button with restart after few min. did repair after restart and got the same issue. Nvidia driver is up to date and so is windows. ow2 played with no issues this morning but after update it IS NOT HAPPY. I dont have time for total reinstall of ow2 now but can try later…any clue?

battlenet does not see ow2 now only diablo 3 the folder is still there all 29gb of it but not seen by battlenet, trying to uninstall gives error that it can not be found by battlenet so i deleted the folder and started a reinstall, I have to run but will be back in an hour to see if the reinstall helped. is everyone having issues running nvidia cards? i have a 4090…

uninstall and reinstall of ow2 did not help
running nvidia 4090 with 531.79 intel i9-13900K with 32gb DDR5
other games work as well as other blizz games, no updates today beside the ones that battlenet did…what hardware is everyone running?

Came here to sort this problem out and it appears I’m not the only one, good to know. Not the newest machine here but it runs OW2 like a dream, so I had a low-key panic moment when the game froze multiple times after the event update. Hopefully they can figure out the problem quickly. ::::
Same issue here. I open the game and the Menu screen where the “Play” button is appears, music plays normally, but the menu doesn’t finish the starting animation, so the menu buttons are sliding to the right and freeze midway the animation.
I tried the repair tool in Battlenet, didn’t do anything. I closed all other applications to free up RAM, nothing changed. I have no OS updates available. I don’t think this has anything to do with drivers, this came with the new patch in OW2.
defintely something with the latest patch, I think its causing other people different issues as well. hopefully we can get a tech soon.
im having same issue. game is fully frozen and requires restart on pc as sometime not even task manager opens.
i tried cache clear and even vpn to see if any internet issues.
this is very frustrating as rest of my friends can play and i cant login and freezing

so u guys need to keep in screen that stays stuck for 1-5 min.
after that it starts moving.
if still doesnt work than relogin and cancel when it says connecting so u guys can login ur account again. in that screen itll gett stuck again so wait it out. for me it was 3 min

OK I really have no clue why but it works this morning…things I did yesterday:
restart PC (it did that itself the first time after locking up with blue windows something went wrong screen)
blizzard repair
uninstall reinstall ow2
uninstall reinstall both battlenet and ow2
uninstall reinstall nvidia drivers
after all that still no luck playing ow2 so I played diablo 3 and flight sim. now this morning everything works without issues??? I got up and started ow2 then walked away(family stuff) when it seemed to have gotten stuck again, I got back to the computer about 30-40 min later and it was at the normal menu. I am able to play again and I closed it all down and now it works normally again??? so I am not really sure what fixed it, the only thing I did different today was walk away for a long time after it froze…

That worked for me. Same exact problem. I’ve uninstalled 3 times to no avail. But I wait out the freeze until the login screen appears and sign in. Just worked. Blizzard still needs to sort things out, but at least I can enter the game.
yeah it worked for me too, thanks guys. I just waited 3 minutes to enter.

I have been able to play normally since it started working again I think the wait it out may be the thing???
