Game tutorial for new players that explain each role

their should be individual game tutorial on how tanks should play, dps should play and support should play…

30 + different heroes is legit information overload. I can’t imagine what new players feel like when trying to play this game for the first time.

thats what hero mastery courses are for

Well then they should add Illari RIGHT NOW. (edit: and also Widow because widow players need it in my lobbies)

But characters work differently in hero mastery. Like winston has chain lighting for example.

Seems like a really bad design choice tbh. Have had friends who don’t play the game much get confused because of this.

Also hero mastery doesn’t teach how to play roles at all, it doesn’t try to teach people how to tank etc. It seems crazy to me that they make no effort to teach people how to play the game.

i think thats a design issue. they made hero mastery courses into boring target practice minigames instead of actually teaching you how to master the hero and play them effectively.

you could clear the course with 5 stars and still be miserably bad in quickplay. they need to rethink that system if they plan to keep adding to it

Quick play is enough of a tutorial. It’s better to learn in real time and with real scenarios rather than try to railroad players into specific playstyles. And all the people who complain about their teammates in quick play should go play singleplayer games.

yup! exactly my point

There is a practice range mode that you can run around doing stuff under different situations. Your friend may want to try it out. The problem is indeed there is no instructions. You gotta check them skills and actually use them and see how they are executed.

Other than that, yep play against AI or join Quick Plays.

Obviously there are ways to practice a character outside of hero mastery. It just seems like a bad design choice to call the mode ‘hero mastery’ then make the heroes have different abilities to the actual game. It will undoubtedly lead to confusion.

Low rank games would be so much better if players were taught not to stagger for example. Sure, they will learn it eventually by just playing but why not teach them?

Understandable. Should have renamed those to “Hero Challenge Mode” or something like that

Yes comp is good for learning.

Would almost agree, but the mastery courses don’t really explain much, they expect you to know the kit already to get through them.

new players have limited amount of heroes to choose from

anyways yeah, the game doesnt have that much of a tutorial really. outside of that thing that tells the bare minimum basics.

im a new player and i was completely overwhelmed.

After about a month I finally went from dying constantly to actually doing damage, healing, and tanking.

My best role is support with brigette and moira. I’m addicted to hanzo and I’m so terribly bad that it’s laughable xD

Hero Mastery doesn’t teach you the fundamentals of playing overWatch and doesn’t prepare you for what actual gameplay is like.
