Game randomly switches to desktop

Hi,

sometimes my game switches to desktop randomly showing the battle net launcher (I close it after I started the game). I also hear the warning-sound from windows when this happens.
But this happens only 2 times in a short amount of time for every game launch.

  • Starting game
  • closing battle net
  • playing for like an hour
  • game switches to desktop
  • battle net launcher is coming up
  • closing battle net
  • me switching back to game
  • 30 seconds later it happens again (with battle.net coming up)
  • never happens again until I relaunch Overwatch

I don’t know if it’s a battle net issue or not but I didn’t installed any new software for months (only updates). I close things like steam and discord before I play (because of this issue).
I don’t see a pattern when it happens but when it happens it’s always 2 times in a short time period. And it don’t happens in main menu (I once went afk for 2 hours with game open…didn’t happen).

Any idea what this is?
And no…I don’t press the windows-button or alt+tab

PS: Please don’t handle battle.net as links…“New users can only share 2 links”

Not sure what you mean by “Game switches to desktop.” Do you mean that you see the desktop and the game is minimized?

exactly…like I pressed alt+tab.

Fun fact: alt+tab or Windows-key doesn’t work for me in Overwatch. It instantly switches back to game. I need to open task-manager to get to desktop if I really want to

Windows 10 is good but with a lot of bs with this messaging system. I DON’T WANT TO TRY OFFICE 360 MICROSOFT!

Nicole, I don’t see a thread, when I click the “Overwatch Forums” link that you say will go to a thread, it only opens up the main page for the forums.

This post is 5 years old and the forum system changed since the reply was made. I don’t think that link is accessible anymore, but maybe the staff knows a trick to access it.

The same problem happens to me as well.

I can share a few tips that worked for me with this issue that can hopefully help someone else.

I have TeamViewer installed, and whenever I get an alert that one of my devices have signed in, I get tabbed out. Closing out of TeamViewer from Control Panel will prevent this.

Discord in-game overlay also caused this to happen for me, although not quite as often. There are a few other apps that can send alerts like this which may be why you tab out, hopefully someone else can share what helped them.
