Game keeps placing me in wrong region

I have ‘Americas’ selected in the launcher, but still get into EU or Asian games. Once it happens this will persist until I restart the game.

Restarting often still puts me into the wrong region, but not always the same one. Sometimes it puts me back in to NA. There seems to be no consistency to when it gets the correct region. At the recommendation of Blizzard support I tried clearing system DNS cache, which didn’t make a difference.

I don’t experience latency or routing issues in other games, just OW2. Please help.

I’m having the same issue too.
I usually play on the Singapore server for Overwatch, and my latency is normally around 18–25 ms. Occasionally, I get connected to Tokyo or Taiwan servers, but that rarely happens, so it’s not really an issue. However, for the past few days, I’ve been getting connected to servers like Finland or the United States, which gives me over 200 ms latency. Now, it seems I’m being connected to the Saudi Arabia server instead. When I play with my friends who are also on the Singapore server, the server code still shows that I’m in the SG region, but my latency remains around 200 ms. None of my friends are experiencing this problem. I’ve already restarted my router several times and even deleted and reinstalled the game, but the issue still persists.

I have the similar issue so I submitted a ticket yesterday. For me, I think it’s the new security app did something to my firewall.

Here’s the response for your reference. Hope this helps.

“First off, I recommend resetting your network devices to clear any data congestion. You can find the steps for that here.
After that, try releasing and renewing your IP address and flushing your DNS, this can help resolve any network conflicts. You can check out how to do that here: https://battle.net/support/article/82450
Also, make sure your drivers and operating system are up to date, as this can help with compatibility issues. You can find more info on that here: https://battle.net/support/article/31024
If you’re on a wireless connection, optimizing it can really help reduce latency. You can find tips on that here: https://battle.net/support/article/31320
And don’t forget to close any unnecessary applications running in the background that might be using up your bandwidth, more on that here: https://battle.net/support/article/23848
Lastly, check your router settings to ensure there are no firewall or port issues blocking Overwatch. You can find guidance on that here: https://battle.net/support/article/7842

This problem is happening for months now.

I’ve noticed it happens less frequently:

-During peak hours (from 22pm to 0am.)

-Playing other modes than Stadium

It also doesn’t happen on countries with a big player base. Unfortunately, it means we won’t get a solution anytime soon.

Problem still occurring, seems to be happening MORE frequently for me.

It also doesn’t happen on countries with a big player base.

As a US player getting stuck into middle eastern / asian / EU games, this is false.

same issue here, just placed into tpe1 from na
