If that player is normally good then next game they will get + 30% or something cus they perform well and bounce back
If that player is consistently garbage then they will continue to lose way more than they win and actually be pushed down to their rank

People who play poorly should not be babied and protected at their rank. They should be dropping like flies. If its just a 1 off bad game then they will bounce back the next. If that person is genuinely awful then they should be falling down the ladder.
Performance based sr literally puts people where they should be based of THEIR skill. Not on if they get lucky and get a good team. That is how you end up with boosted players being coddled at ranks they shouldnt be in.
If you deserve to be at a rank you should be able to consistently perform at that rank. I shouldnt be having games where dps go 2/18 and cannot get a kill for 3 mins. No one should. That is a joke. That person should not be here.
Sorry if its your 1 bad game but the amount of people who pick widow and cannot get a single kill it cannot just be all of them having bad games. Statistical improbability. More likely these people are genuinely awful and the system is protecting them from falling.
Thats what happens when you actively reward people for being boosted by making them gain and lose the same as everyone else. If these people were performing like this with my system they would be needing 2-3 wins for every loss they get to climb because they are so out of their league. But currently they can be absolutely garbage get a win and gain the same as everyone. Sorry but thats BS. That is literally the same as not turning up to class all year and getting given an A on your course because your classmates did all the work for you. No! THAT ISNT HOW THAT WORKS. YOU DID NOTHING. YOU GET NOTHING
This just incentivizes playing for stats rather than playing to win. If a player is good and deserves to rank up, theyâll win games. If they canât win games, they donât deserve to rank up. imo. I think winning is the only metric that matters.
Boosting is easier in a linear ranked system than a system that takes performance into account.
In the current system the player can literally do nothing all game and get full +25% rank gain from the person boosting them. With my system the game sees that person did absolute buttcheeks and they only get say +5% instead. The game literally checks that player and recognises they are garbage so tried to keep them down
Smurfs ruin way more games purposely deranking currently than they would in my system.
The current version of the game literally protects boosting and smurfs lol

They may ruin less games along the way, but as they also get twice as quickly to the ranks where they can really go ham.
Not even considering account selling, which would be way easier as well.
Whether or not the game has performance based SR shouldnât be influenced by these issues anyway. They should be banned and thatâs it.
The system can even boost players by accident. Thats something you canât counteract by banning people, so it shouldât be part of the discussion.

It sucks to have an âanchorâ on your team pull you down to an L. Hurts your rank, but prolly your ego more (how could I be in the same rank as THIS person). But maybe part of the test of ranking up is having an âanchorâ on your team, and still coming up with a W
I never said anything will be fixed. You just quoted me saying no one has a solution to fix ranked.
Not only that, you just quoted me saying Iâm against the idea, but Iâm still willing to try it.
Furthermore, inconsistency is a human element. Youâre throwing a tantrum over something us, the community can barely hold together, and expect the devs to do something about it.
