Game is broken and I can't uninstall

When loading the game for the past week, all the character models are blue or orange wisps until they die and then when they re-spawn I can see them. Separately, the time to load the hero selection, I almost get timed out for inactivity before the selection screen loads.

I’d like to uninstall the game and re-install but through the Control Panel, I get this BLZBNTBNU00000008 - Blizzard Support so I followed the link to uninstall the game from the Battle.net launcher Uninstalling Games with the Battle.net Desktop App - Blizzard Support but there’s literally no gear icon as that article shows located anywhere on the launcher.

What the what is even going on!?

Edit: I was not able to correct this properly. I literally just sent the Overwatch folder to the Recycle bin and stripped the registry of the listed software in Programs and Features and now I’m re-downloading it. The incompetence of Blizzard’s development team is staggering.

  1. Prevent software from being installed from Control Panel so it must be done through Battle.net launcher
  2. No actual way visibly that I can find to uninstall game via Battle.net launcher

Apparently Blizzard games are now just portable installs.

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that there were issues with reinstalling the game. That is definitely odd that the Options button didn’t show up for you.

It should be located right above where the video/image is loaded (which is showing the new hero Echo currently), or under the Overwatch logo (not the one on the left side, but the one near the top). Not entirely sure why it would not be loaded for you, but maybe it was related to the in-game model/asset issue that you also mentioned.

If you continue to have issues after reinstalling though just let us know.

This is what I would do, force delete the install folder by just deleting the games directory; i.e. “C:\Program Files\BlizzardApp\Overwatch” Delete the Overwatch folder and for the Battle.net App to reinstall the game again. It doesnt mess with the registry, and luckily its one of the easiest things you can do with the Battlenet App and Blizzard titles. Its what I do when I Swap the games entire folders from SSD’s to HDD’s when im not playing them anymore, or vice versa when I want to.

  1. Delete install folder
  2. Have Battlenet App Start the deleted game or restart it and install it again.
  3. Play game.

Easy Work around.

Okay sound good. Will do, thanks.

Caffeinated,

Can you get us a picture of your battle.net application once you have overwatch reinstalled if your Options gear still doesn’t show up? We’re happy to check into why the app isn’t displaying properly. You can get a screenshot of it, save it in Paint or something like that, then upload it to imgur. Link us here and we’ll take a look.

If you have link errors, copy the code below, then copy/paste your link between two ` marks, it’ll break the link and let you post it. You can just copy paste everything in the box below and replace “Link goes here” with your link.

How on earth did you necro this thread? I thought all threads in tech support are closed after a month of inactivity.
