Even though this is a team focused game and its hard to get anywhere without teamwork, using the chat to talk to anyone usually leads to tilting and game throwing, and in some cases unfair abusive chat bans.
Had a game yesterday where our sigma was getting rolled, so i daid “maybe we should try orisa or something” dude immediately went rein and just kept walking off the cliff. Like 0 hesitation on throwing the game.
Also had a friend get suspended for typing “gg no re”. He tried to appeal it but got a copy paste deny.
Yeah. They should remove text. Majority of text tend to be toxic. If someone does give a tiny bit of advice they either say chill. it’s qp or starts toxicity.
6 years later and I still haven’t got the mythical chat suspension despite posting in match chat constantly. I wonder what kind of behavior you guys are regularly engaging in to get these suspensions? Maybe your “nice” suggestions aren’t so nice.
All it takes is one group of peoole to mass report you and they auto punish. No appeal no defense, its just a silence/ban based on # of reports and its why it is so heavily abused.

I will say stuff like “GLHF” at the start. I’ll say “Gr” if the first round was a fun back and forth that was close regardless if i win or lose. And i often say GG at the end.
I dont really engage with toxic behavior or chat tho, not really worth it. Sometimes ill just simply say “not cool dude” after someone says something toxic.
Aside from those examples i dont really use chat much.
Except it doesnt. We already have confirmation that they only take into account 1 report per game. The numbers are so significantly higher to get a mute than a single team could ever do as well.
Drop the link where they said that, because if that were true my friends suspension worthy chatlog wouldn’t be “gg no re” since he had only typed it for like 2 games
Yup thats basically what I’ve been doing. I occasional watch out for the text chat because I enjoy the drama but I normally turn off the chat in comp. No point in dealing with toxic allies, I work better when I’m focused on my own gameplay anyway.
Ping system is the best thing they added in my opinion.
We can’t be civil so chat is all turned off for me.
Only interactions I have with players is through here and maybe private chats, but even then eh. I guess Discord too, if I’ve upgraded to “talking person” status with the other person.
In OW1 it was manageable, no one was as screamy or angry as they are now. I wonder why…
Blizzard decided to suspend me for two weeks for asking my team to group up and stop playing like literal animals. First time offence in 14 years of playing on Battle.net btw.

Competitive has never been worse than it is currently with people being pulled from all parts of the queue spectrum just to get games going within a reasonable waiting time, I keep getting mid to high diamond games where tanks or DPS are high silver and I just can’t wrap my head around why this is considered good for the game.
You’re either getting rolled, or being rolled and there is no enjoyment to be had.
In the game where I got reported both DPS were threathening to throw if they did not get a mercy pocket, and while I reported both of them somehow I get a suspension but nothing happens to them.
