Game freezing with Intel i3 / Dual core CPUs

yeah because a few days ago people at the low end in intermediate we blank screening i think by trying to solve some problems they have introduced the high high end because there are now alot more crash threads accross the full range of machines it seems.

and remember they disabled some maps so those onse must beeen crashing and artifacting like crazy to pull them.

But us little i3 peeps can only work on our own stuff try help the 2 core 4 threaders

I’ve been able to play for about 4 hours without any freezes using what I did below.

Paste into Overwatch 2 launch arguments:
--tank_WorkerThreadCount 2

(I have 2 physical core cpu, look in task manager what your cpu is and make it match whatever your core count is)
No dynamic resolution, No vsync, 59 Frame cap, Everything on low/off

Here’s to hoping we get a permanent fix soon! Thank you guys for being literal tech badasses with this, ya’ll make this community.

check to make sure its double hyphened

i seen

a member above pointed out in crash logs its – not -
I aint an expert on it but give that a try
if its 4 core 8 try
–tank_WorkerThreadCount 4 YES the forums correct then - - no space between them DOUBLE HYPHEN
turn off dynamic render and set to medium preset or low

let me know how you get on

unfortunately it didn’t work for me the game freezes after less than 5 minutes

whilst if was not responding

Honestly try both! I started with 4 since that’s my logical processor count and it crashed less than 5 minutes, then moved down to 2 since that’s my core count and it’s been working ever since.

im gnna try, thank you

yeah i going with intels core count off the intel page for that processor

The problem does not appear to be hardware related, at all, since it happens on all platforms, all hardware possible, AMD and Intel CPUs, AMD and Nvidia GPUs, it happens both on Windows and on Linux.

Everything that we are able to do currently is only create a workarounds to make it stable. And nothing, as of currently, is working reliably, for all of people affected.

Thanks. I have indeed been using doubly hyphen; still no luck

agreed i think they did something server wise thats causing further crashes.

this thread are for people who get not responding, and have to use task manager to end process on older mostly pre gen 8 intels.

but yeah the world in ow2 is on fire I am sure not all crashes are atributed to this solution. e.g the guy i said go check your intel drivers a hour ago for 12th gen has now deleted all his posts here…lol

i hope that fixed his problens :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

did either of you post a dxdiag

do you even get 1 game? or out of the spawn?

Guys, after the game crashed again earlier today, I removed OW2 (uninstalled) and it’s folders in documents and program files, then reinstalled. Now, it may be coincidence, but I’ve played three sessions, each lasting around 45 minutes, and no crashes. Just letting you know. Of course, who’s to say it won’t crash again at some point.

Its not related to server. The game is executed on your, and other people’s systems. Its something with game engine that is broken. The data executed is locally. Shaders are compiled locally.

The game will have to be updated by Blizzard, but the biggest problem is that - there is no one common denominator, apart from the game engine/the game itself.

Crashes happen on all platforms, all hardware vendors, on all peripheral vendors, etc.

what are you running
can you load in the game? can you nmake it out the spawn? can you play 5mins? can you play 1 game?

cpu
mem

My game freezes within 5-120 seconds of launching the game, regardless of whether i am in login, menus, practice, or in a match. Every. Single. Time.

Could be a connection issue that cause the game to crash ?

Iam using 5g not fiberoptic
