so the best way to play atm is without any coms or chat turned on because false reports lead to autobans and autobans lead to perma ban. I dont want to lose the 7 years worth of skins and unlocks I’ve got and all of my account history and friendslist, plus theres a lot of smack talking, salt and toxicity so its just not worth interacting at all. Its too risky
This plus the shorter end game screens make the game feel kind of lonely tho. Is that just me? I tend to play solo anyway and used to just interact with randoms, I feel too awkward to ask people to play regularly most of the time and turn invites down… idk. Maybe its just me and how I play these days. OW1 used to feel a lot more social tho. Anyone else?

Too bad I cannot heart your post more than once…

OW1 was far more social, like not even close. This aggressive DM has cemented that.
You’re absolutely right in keeping out of all comms to preserve your account. That you and others feel compelled to do so is completely ridiculous, and speaks to the trash heap that is this autoban system, and Blizz’s practically nonexistent CS.
Overwatch is one of the greatest tragedies in video game history. Its excellent gameplay is the fumes this game is still running on. It won’t/can’t go on forever this way.
Really sad imo.

with how this game pushes you onto your next stomp this game feels so automated it hurts do we even have a community these days or just a bunch of souless sweaty “pros” and brainless bots these days ?

I’ve never worried about bans. I only play ranked solo support Brig/Lucio, always in voice. I just leave chat if the team is toxic.

My boyfriends had his chat turned off. Worked great until he was recently banned for inactivity as multiple people reported him for not replying

Ehh idk im in comms all the time and i have never been banned. I think people just need to learn to communicate better

Same, as soon as Overwatch 2 launched with their new rules. I had a hunch they were no longer reading anything. I turned off EVERYTHING. I haven’t played comp since 2 launched either.

doesnt even do good to turn off the chat as people can still report you and said you have committed inappropriate communication but the ai is to stupid to see you have disabled comms…the ai system needs to be sent to the shadow realm and actual people review reports instead of a broken ai that cant be properly coded

they never were reading anything unless appealed, it has always been automated…

Since its someone else’s account, I have a modicum of doubt about it.
I’m still inclined to believe you tho. Stayin out of comms guarantees nothing as far as not getting reported. Can still get it for going afk, throwing, spamming voice lines, hell even not communicating apparently.
Every report counts, no matter how false. Its a lovely notion to contend with whilst trying to have fun in a videogame

It’s a double edge sword, you had games where people would communicate and have a good time and other times, you had games where people were being sexist, racist, straight up toxic etc. unfortunately, the game is designed with competitive in mind so the chat was often more toxic than not. I found the best way to truly enjoy overwatch is to make some friends and just que up with them. The game is best played with other like minded players.

It’s a game not a dating app.
Harsher report system and harsher leaver penalty is the cause of this, yet this has been asked for by the community. Y’all get what you deserve, honestly…

by design. quiet hamster ping fest is devs desire goal. minimizes social interaction. dev meeting: “how can we dump users without asking them to leave? false bans and rig matches?, brilliant, let’s activate our hamster wheel ai to make 5 game winstreaks rare and 10 game winstreaks impossible”. which backfired into fewer logins and endless layoffs. self inflicted demise. which proves that devs war against exceptionalism backfired beyond belief. or devs were instructed, in 2019, by their paymaster to make it harder to accomplish winstreaks. well present day, less players, less servers. so yeah the rigging and autobans is a method to indirectly downsize, without formerly asking players to uninstall as that could require refunds.
Idk. I haven’t communicated in Overwatch since like 2018. It’s a big reason I don’t play comp because I wouldn’t be try Harding as much as a should.
came here today after i logged in and recieved multiple automated messages 1 about my communication being reported and i also got 2 messages saying that my reports had lead to actions taken against others…
the problem is that i only reported 1 person in the last…weeks so why did i suddenly recieve multiple messages saying that my reports had lead to actions taken? as for the reports i apparently recieved… i only had a bad interaction with 1 person. he was rude to me so i was rude back. was my warning justified? perhaps. but i’ll be honest if someone is rude to me i dont feel like being nice back to him.
since apparently this system is automatic… what if this guy who i had a negative interaction with was playing with others and they decided to report me too? then that would make for a case of ‘‘multiple reports’’ but would those reports be from neutral witnesses? i dont think so.
and the elephant in the room here is that i got 2 messages that my reports (even though i only reported 1 time) had lead to actions taken… im really confused here, how can 1 report lead to multiple messages saying my reports lead to something?
ive played this game since launch in 2016, i have a lot of time invested into this game and im feeling like this automatic system may have gone mad. i might just not play for a while untill i see a developer update saying that it was indeed a bug causing issues with the report system

My friend finally got unbanned! There’s hope! He was banned for “hacking” and every petition was…“Stop asking questions” “Ask again and we will ban your entire BNET Account”
Eventually he went to the Blizzard Legal department and has his account unbanned and all they said was “Hope you’ll accept our apology in this error” lolol.
