Game crashing while pressing LMB in Spectate

Hey,

Just like in the topic. Whenever I join eliminations to watch and wait for my friend to finish, when I want to switch player camera to somebody else - I press left mouse button and the game… closes.

That’s it. It happens both on my PC and my laptop.

Confirming this. As a competitive coach/player, this makes spectating my teams impossible during scrims and matches. This needs to be fixed/solved quickly.

Some more notes:

  1. I only experience crashes when I am locked to a team; custom game free spectate seems to work fine.
  2. There is no error report or crash message.
  3. Updating graphics drivers did not change anything and changing video settings seemed to have no effect in my testing.
  4. I was able to connect and watch the games AFTER they had begun, but as soon as sides switched (escort/hybrid/assault) or the map switches (control) I am booted and forced to relaunch from the BNET Client.
  5. Left mouse button initiates the crash.

This happened to 4-5 of us during a tespa match. We eventually figured it out.

How you gonna say “We eventually figured it out.” and not post the solution? haha

Also experiencing this On console (Xbox) and is killing scrims.

I will try suggested fix above re: not having members locked into roles
