Game crashes with "rendering device lost" error

Recently, the game has started to crash more often. In 15 out of 20 games, I crash with the same error “Your rendering device has been lost!” and I have been penalised multiple times because of this. It does sound like a GPU error but I really don’t think it’s anything with my GPU. The temp, fan speed, vram usage, fps in game and everything else is fine, and EVERY other game works just fine, the problem is only with Overwatch 2.

Solutions I have tried:

  • Scanned/Repaired the game
  • Upgraded and downgraded my display drivers
  • Used different graphics settings in game (low, med, high)
  • Deleted the document file for Overwatch 2

For people that are gonna suggest setting components speed back to default. I have never overclocked any of my PC’s components. It’s all on the factory default speed

I’d appreciate any other help regarding this, since I get to play games barely for 2 hours a day and Overwatch 2 is the only game I play in this time.

Some components come overclocked when you buy them, so this would still be a worthwhile troubleshooting exercise.

Which CPU are you using?

Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i5-4570S CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
RAM: 12.0 GB
GPU: GTX 750 Ti

I just reset the CMOS battery, and changed BIOS settings to default to undo any overclock on any of the components, yet I crashed again in the game in the very first round I played. This has become very frustrating and at this point I just want to blame no one but the game’s incompetent developers since I have never had such an issue with ANY OTHER game but this

If the error is only saying your rendering device was lost, then it’s absolutely related to the GPU. That model was released 10 years ago, which is quite old in computing terms. There may be a problem with the drivers working for the most recent update of the game. Have you checked nVidia’s site/forums?
