Game crashes causing BSOD due to Samsung SSD 980 WHEA errors

Brief Description:
Experiencing frequent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes specifically during Overwatch 2 gameplay, traced to Samsung SSD 980 WHEA hardware errors.

Detailed Issue:

  • Game runs fine initially but crashes to BSOD during matches
  • Windows Event Viewer shows WHEA-Logger errors (Event ID 1) pointing to STORPORT/NVMe issues
  • Error specifically involves Samsung SSD 980 storage device
  • Crashes result in automatic system restarts and game penalties

System Specs:

  • SSD: Samsung SSD 980 (NVMe)
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Game: Overwatch 2

Troubleshooting Attempted:

  • Analyzed Windows Event Logs
  • Identified WHEA hardware errors related to storage controller
  • Error occurs under high I/O load (gaming scenarios)

Technical Details:

Questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced similar NVMe-related crashes with Overwatch 2?
  2. Are there specific SSD firmware updates or driver configurations that help?
  3. Could game optimization settings reduce storage I/O stress?

Request:
Looking for technical solutions or similar experiences. The crashes only happen during gaming, suggesting high I/O triggers the hardware error.

due to bsod, i was been suspend keep playing stadium, and as i create ticket to assistant, they say they cant help me cuz i leave the game multiple times. but which is funny is check my history, i connect back asap and finish the game. they just follow the rules by no reason.
besides, i find out many gamers quit due to bsod or just crashed in stadium, will u guys repair it?

Have you tried checking your SSD with CrystalDiskMark?
