It does, don’t get me wrong, all I’m saying is that pharamercy synergy is inherently easier than its counters. I rather they didn’t touch ga, but instead did what GreyFalcon suggested a while ago (mercy healing is slower to airborne targets, which would force pharahs to land for faster heals).
EDIT: but yeah I do pay attention to my mercy more often than not, especially if I’m about to close a gap on enemy or going across a wall, etc.
Thats fair. Im just pointing out that when addressing issues with the GA nerfs, saying “pharmercy is worse :(” to the forums probably isn’t the best way to start.
I totally understand that. But I don’t believe like this wasn’t an intentional way of nerfing pharamercy. Surely they can find more intuitive ways of nerfing the synergy if they wanted (like they did with soj) that is not wait for mercy to drop out of the sky or stay still on the open lol , which isnt even a reliable nerf and just feels awful. They could also simply nerf the dmg boost to deal with this situation and hard pocketing power on the whole.
Yeah…
These changes are still pretty fresh so it’s gonna be hard to say and see what all is the good and bad but I am pretty confident the overall reception of both ends is not enjoying it.
This is true and, in consideration of your point, doesn’t really help the state of Phara.
Phara players don’t want the health of their hero to keep being gatekept in their overall power because of Mercy’s interaction and I don’t think changing GA is going to help solve this. Infact, I think if Blizzard decides NOT to do anything about this, they will have to look more at Phara being impossible to be taken down by hitscans now since she can keep from being 0’d even more and Mercy can self heal herself if both are damaged.
Yea I mean hot take maybe but I’d be fine with her only being able to regen by healing and getting her GA cooldown back. It would punish bad positing while still allowing her to move in and save low health targets. I mean maybe it would be to much of a nerf but I’d be wiling to try
Well, if the notorious Mercy hater Seagull is looking with the devs on stream at this change and basically says “What the hell is this?” than I don’t think they have a choice but to quick change something.
Well the way I see it is right now, dps are surviving more with the new pocket so they’re like hell yea this is awesome this is a buff, but the tide will change soon. People will figure out to focus mercy as their first target now (since she cannot regen much at the start of fights when everyone is full) , and will just hard focus her instead of the pocket. I fear once pple figure tht out she’ll be dead pretty much on CD due to her lack of any offensive ability unless she gets babysat. Also, in lower ranks where they may not do this they will 100% not enjoy playing against essentially an un-killable target lmao.
All of these points about the GA cooldown are completely moot when you learn how to kick start your cooldown. Press the GA input immediately after cancelling the ability (from a super jump or slingshot), and the cooldown will start instantly, effectively reversing it back to 1-2 seconds.
They added more risk/reward to her kit.
Which I think is good.
Going for risky plays makes the game more exciting. Having safe play is what makes the game feel boring or annoying.
I do think the changes are in a good direction.
I can think of other buffs they can do to not buff her ability again. Such as giving your guardian angle target 20% damage mitigation for a second or two.
They can also do something like succesful rez resets guardian angel cd.
I don’t mind the rest of the kit but i think u cannot fully utilize it bc of the CD. I would be happy trading something for it for sure. Yes tweaks fingers crossed.
