FYI 144hz + monitor makes huge difference with aim

Sure this is no big news to many, but there’s still a lot of people trapped in the 60hz monitor hell and I want to stress that if they care about their performance it’s truly worth the upgrade and I wouldn’t doubt if it would mean a solid SR gain of hundreds over time.

I finally got a 160hz capable monitor after living in purgatory with a 60hz for years and yeah it makes such a difference with hitscan/Hanzo plays. I couldn’t believe the shots I was making with Cree, and had plenty of “bruh” type comments directed towards me when playing him.

Sadly though the panel was a bit faulty with a bad brightness gradient going from left to right so I had to exchange it for a new one on the way and going back to 60hz in the meantime is painful.

BTW I am 42 year old lifelong gamer with no young brain advantage here with hand eye stuff so I imagine the boost would be even greater for younger kids.

I just bought myself a 144hz over cyber-Monday.

Although I have a gaming laptop, and the HDMI cable is my only output.
So only getting 120fps.

But big improvement over 60fps.

no it doesnt, there has been thousands of testing and research for it… makes no difference, unless you go down from 144 to 60,than you will notice minor difference, if you play at 60 nothing changes…
youre not going to be top 500 just like that

You’re talking so loud out of your rear it isn’t even funny if you think 60 to 144 makes no difference. Does High FPS make you a better gamer? Ft. Shroud - FINAL ANSWER - YouTube

Well here’s just a single test out of those “thousands” that show it does help

I upgraded from a 60hz to a 144hz over Cyber Monday and it helps a LOT, you don’t know what you’re missing in the smoothness untill you see it in front of you. You can’t watch a video of 144hz monitor to see the difference, because its still being filtered thru your 60hz monitor so it will not look different

hah beat you to it and this was actually the video I watched that convinced me to finally upgrade.

Yes if you practice 2-4 hours at day FFA, ana-bots, fatty bots. If you are a CASUAL play 30 minutes per day the 144hz or 240hz will not help you at all

A player start on Bronze then buy a 144hz monitor to practice religiousy everyday will notice huge results after 4, 8, 12 months

A player start in bronze then buy a 240hz monitor to play 20 mins a day wil never notice a improvement

Aim is like the GYM you workout hard everyday to obtain that

Oh by all means please enlighten us with some sources. I really want to see this, considering how absurdly wrong this statement is.

Are you still using a 60hz monitor, perhaps even 44hz on a crappy laptop? Or did you perhaps start gaming on a 144hz+ monitor and never had to use 60hz because you’re that young? There’s a huge difference between 60hz and 144hz, an even bigger difference between 60hz and 244hz. I went from 60hz to 165hz and my tracking and aim improved a lot. I can’t imagine going back to 60hz.

I went from 60 to 144 a year ago, the is a noticeable difference, though once you start going higher that difference becomes harder to see.

Just upgraded to a 240 hz today, feels good man.

I dunno dude, from what I’ve seen of Bronze gameplay, those folks tend to lack game knowledge and/or basic mechanical skills, not frames. That being said, there is a floor. If you play at 15FPS then that might be your problem, but 60 is quite acceptable for getting out of Bronze.

Every tool in the world requires practice and a set of skills to take advantage of it. A 144hz monitor is objectively better than 60hz. You get more information and lower latency per frame, but if you haven’t yet learned to take advantage of them then there will of course be lower value.

But even if you’re a noob those things still benefit you. Sure, having mommy and daddy buy you a brand new $10000 computer with quad SLI and a 240hz monitor isn’t going to buy your way to top 500, but it removes variables from the equation and allows you to improve in less time. Your brain can quickly learn to take advantage of the advantages it’s given.

I’ve heard a significant number of people in the lower skill brackets are there because of their hardware and they’re trying to play the game at like 10fps.

Dunno if that’s true, but that’s anecdotally what ive heard.

Yeah, that’s… not good at all. That is actually legitimately way too low.

144hz didn’t do a damn thing for me. The resolution bump from 1080p was nice though. I’m at peace with my inability to aim in this game. At least I have Mei, for now.

I can’t agree more.
I just recently got an MSi gaming monitor that supports 165hz and it’s making a world of difference.

The way I see it, higher refresh rates helps keep your peak aim performance more consistent. If your aim accuracy in general is constantly bad, having higher refresh rate will not magically improve it, only practice will.

Went from Silver to Diamond in one week after switching to a 144 Hz monitor…

A high refresh rate monitor is a huge advantage, it’ll literally change the game for you. It honestly feels very pay to win.

Don’t listen to anyone who says it doesn’t help, it’s the biggest difference you can make for your gameplay. And it’s not just good for aim either, it helps with visual processing of the environment massively. Like trying to time your earthshatter as Reinhardt for instance.
